This usually happens with telescoping wheel, if you turn the car off and start it again, usually it will correct itself. However, the problem is with the wiring harness in the column getting pinched, there is a TSB for the problem, I occasionally have the same issue with my '05, there is a small comb like divider the dealer installs between the wires to correct it. I just dread going to the dealer to get it fixed. The part itself is only .79 cents.
maybe some one can help me. I just bought a 2010 gs with 2,700 miles. i took it out today and stopped to get a bite. when i restarted the check engine light is on, also says service traction control and service active handling, and it runnung real rough. I was only two mile from home so i took it slow and parked it. I want to blow it up, i just bought it 9 days ago and now this is my secong problem. Any suggestions whats wrong or how to fix this

We get it. But you should understand that making the effort to put together a good clear post about your problem is the best way to get good responses. When we see posts with a lot of mistakes, we don't usually think "big fingers" but rather "sloppy effort". Don't take it personally, just trying to help.

This is too weird. I just left a restaurant as well and my check engine light came on too. Solar flares maybe... Like the op, 2010 with 2100 miles. Runs ok though. Checked the gas cap and its ok. I guess the next step is call the dealer and schedule a service appt.

Glad you found the problem, when the Websters Dictionary crowd shows up most of the time it's because they have little mechanical aptitude...otherwise they would help as others did.....just ignore them.

OP, glad that you found the problem and it was an easy fix.
I looked at the plug wires and all looks well but was waiting for the engine to cool before I stuck my big hand down there to check if they were loose. The engine ran fine on the way home and idles smooth. I'm hoping just a plug wire...

ZR1 owner to the rescue!
OP, glad your car is fixed. Now you can go enjoy it!
This happened to my 2010 GS as well. The problem was a defective accelerator pedal sensor that communicates with the throttlebody. It was fixed under warranty.
