What does the magnetic steering and dual mode exhaust do for the car?
The magnetic ride stiffens up the suspension for better handling when you want it. There is a Tour and Sport setting. Most times if you are just on the road the Tour is just fine you won't feel much difference on normal roads but when you want better (stiffer handling) that's what Sport is for in layman's terms.
The NPP dual mode exhaust option puts butterfly valves in the 2 inner pipes, you can see them when you look at the exhaust straight on. They will restrict the exhaust flow until you hit 3500 RPM then they open up giving you an extra 6 HP so says Chevy. I have the NPP and keep them open most of the time with a bypass switch. The sound is great. If you are not thinking about changing the exhaust when you get yours then by all means get the NPP.
Others may chime in with more technical reasons but thats it in a nutshell.
Wow $10k under MSRP. Was there much haggling going on for that price?
None at all, just before the 2012s came out the Daytona Beach dealership advertised all leftover 2011s were $10k under MSRP. Big dealer ship, had 4 1Lts one 2LT a couple of 3LTs Several 3LT and 4LT GS models and even a white ZR1.. They said take your pick and it will be $10k off sticker. I took the black 2LT, only new black Corvette I could find within 500 miles of me.

If I can't find a deal like that then ill just buy a used one with less than 15k miles. Just sux I'll have to wait till at least this fall. I figured my wife would be pissed at the idea of me getting a C6 but she didn't seem to mind. Usually gets mad at me for anything I might do for myself.

Passenger seat works GREAT for short and long road trips
You can get a NEW 1LT with dual mode exhaust for low to mid 40's. Check with Tommy Jr. at MacMulkin Chev in NH. He is a forum dealer and will make you a GREAT deal.
Then you just have to figure out how to get it to OK and he will even help you do that as well.
Welcome to the forum.
Thanks for your service.
Call some of the forum Corvette dealers, you might find some really good deals and even if you don't find it right away one of them may contact you later with the right one for you.
