Default Extended Warranty after 58000 miles

I got offered a E.W for my 2005 Z51. 48 months 100.00 deductible. The service writer noted that I mentioned that I planned to keep my car. I prefer to trade it in for a new z06 but my wife would divorce me and that would cost a lot more then the extended warranty.
The price is over 3grand and of course there are exclusions, but it basically mirrors the original GM warranty.
I just put in a new fuel pump and radiator. The dealer worked with me on the cost- who knows what else will happen as the vette goes towards 100,000.. Any thoughts ?:

I bought my 2006 coupe used last November.
It had 14,500 miles on it.
They talked me into a 2yr/24k EW for $2,000.
No deductible.
Shortly after buying, I thought twice, and cancelled it for a full refund.

I've put over 11,000 miles on it since November, and it's been pretty much trouble free.
Until last Wednesday.
At 26,000 miles my harmonic balancer started going.
Local speed shop said $500 for a new stock one, about $800 for a stronger underdrive pulley.
Local Chevy dealer said $1100 for another stock one.

I also have been having some problems getting my shifter out of park, but after reading up on that, I learned the "touch" to keep it from doing it.

The new pulley should be about $800 installed, and it will be with an upgraded part.
...if nothing else goes wrong until Nov 2013 (when the 24mo EW would have expired) I"m ahead $1200.

My thoughts are if something goes wrong, I'll use the "opportunity" to upgrade.

I am guessing this is not a GMPP but another 3rd party. While I am sure there are some good ones out there, I know from 1st hand experience there are some bad ones.... While I always debate with myself on buying a extended warranty (depending on price and vehicle), I know for sure I will not buy another 3rd party.

Yep. Watch out cause they usually exclude the stuff that is most likely to fail and then make you use salvage parts in the repairs on the ones they do cover.

I had a third party one on my C5. It cost me $1,600 with a $100 deductible. It paid for itself with a column lock issue, wheel position sensor and the big one of a complete A/C rebuild.
I just purchased an '07 with 11,000 miles and contacted AAA about a warranty and they just sent me all the info. I need to read the two different options, but most likely will be baying one of them. It does not take much to have a big bill on repairs of these cars.
