ok I'm sick & tired of these dang black dots of tar all over my vette. I never see them on my Tacoma. I guess it's cause it's so damn low. I'm damaging my clear coat removing them during wash. Can anyone make a suggestion on how to remove them easily ? Am I gonna have to use goo gone every time before I wash ? I'm sure that will remove wax. help
I was getting the same hard black dots where I park my car(near a tree) at my office. Both on the Corvette and Avalanche. I think it is insect droppings. I went to HD and spread out some granular pesticide and watered in the area and the problem stopped.
Try Turtle Wax Bug and Tar Remover, safe for clear coats won't strip wax, comes in a green 16oz spray bottle. I use it to clean bugs off the leading edge of wings, tail and front of cowling on my C-172 and to remove tar on my Grand Sport, works great.
If you are parking your vehicle near mulch the black spots may be coming from "artillery" fungus. Sounds bizarre, but it's real, just Google it. It's a fungus that launches a speck of black spores up to 20 feet. The spores have a natural glue that's like krazy glue. Tends to be launched after rain and shows up most on lighter colored vehicles and buildings. Had it happen to me in both New Jersey and here in Florida. It is truly a b**ch to remove. On siding I used a credit card after soaking with detergent.

Never heard of that...around here, it humming bird poop....they spray it when they fly and it carries in the air sticking to anything it touches. Small brown dots that look like the button candy we used to eat as kids, only smaller..rub them off and the top comes right off but a greasy spot is left behind......

I use that stuff too. Works really good. Will even take month old bugs off with little effort
I have some pesky dots of something on my hood. I have not found anything that will get rid of them. I don't think they are tar because they don't respond to the normal tar solvents.
