Default Interior Heat

I have a 05 convert, Z51 and 6spd manual. I love the car, the only complaint I have is heat transfer into the interior. My question is have the 2012, 2013 models been improved in this area?

I don't think so.

Do a search on interior insulation kits. They really help control the heat and road noise.

I don't have any experience in a 05 C6 but the 2012 GS has a fair amount of heat coming off of the console. Nothing that bothers me but you can feel it.

Not a problem for me. It's 114 degrees here in Scottsdale and all I do is turn on that A/C and enjoy my ride in 70 degree comfort.

Thanks, I was wondering, it gets pretty hot and humid here and I have to drive with the A/C on most days even with the top down. Nothing I can't live with, was just wondering if they had made improvements in this area.

Center console on my 08 was always getting very warm to the point of it affecting the operation om my Ipod. Then I got the insulation pad sold by a forum vendor which helps decrease the heat quite a bit.

I love the heat, I keep a couple hot dogs & cheese sandwich in the console. By the first rest-area stop, lunch is served

I think GM might have done a little in the newer models to help with the console heat, but just a guess on my part.
When these posts come up it seems to vary where some don't feel it's a real issue and others feel the heat is too much.
There's definitely heat in the console area but on my 09 it doesn't seem overly Hot from my experience.
And I've been stuck in Beach Traffic with the top off in Sunny 90+ weather.
Yes it gets hotter than normal but can't say it's been extreme.
As others have mentioned, insulating kits for the area under the console will help a lot.
I Personally haven't felt it's that much of an issue to take the interior apart to install more insulation.
Just my 2 cents

I had a 2005 and now have a 2012, and I never had a problem with interior heat in either. I had a Mazda RX-8 and that definitely had a problem with interior heat. The cupholder could almost boil water!

WE SELL THE ELITE ENGINEERING TUNNEL PLATES TO HELP WITH THE INTERIOR HEAT.

IT CUTS DOWN ON THE HEAT DRASTICTLY. I WOULD SAY WHEN I INSTALLED MINE THE TEMP IN THE CENTER CONSOLE AND CUP HOLDER AREA DROPPED 20 DEGREES.

On our 2009, the cupholder doubles as a fondue pot.

Installed an Elite Engineering insulated tunnel plate when I installed headers and it really cut down console heat big time.

The heat from those Corvettes from 68-72 especially big block engines gave off so much heat you needed to run the air cond. at night.

I use the cup insulator and console insulator from Top Flight Reproductions (Forum Vendor) and I can tell you it makes a big difference.

We had a 1967 327 with A/C that didn't overheat, but the floorboards got so hot that the rubber sole on my left shoe would start to melt into the carpet. Lifting my left foot was like peeling Velcro.

We've come a long way...

Might very well get a tunnel plate for the '10 GS but in the meantime it will take 20-30 minutes and less than $10 for me to do the FrostKing mod like I did to the C5. AFTER the mod the console in the C5 was completely cool. I had to actually grab the shifter near the console to tell how warm it might have been without the mod.

I have a 2012 and I honestly have not noticed any special hot spots. I don't use the cup holders (use a travel buddy) but haven't felt any heat there. The inside of the console doesn't seem to get hot either.
