Soon our C6 won't be the newest generation, how does that make you feel?

For the past seven years I've been glad to own a C6 instead of a previous generation not so much because it's the latest generation but because in my mind it's the best Corvette ever built. We'll know soon if we end up feeling that way about the C7. I'm confident that in terms of features and engineering it will be a big improvement over the C6. What's far less certain is the styling. I for one will be disappointed if the taillights are anything but round and if the rear window on coupes is flat like we've seen in some renderings. As Tom Peters said while working on the C6, "It had better look like a Corvette!"

I've got my Red Beauty right where I want it both inside and performance wise and have no desire to change for a new generation. If the C7 really grabs me, I'll wait until the 2nd year of production before I even consider buying one.

I think it was a fair question asked by the OP, and fair answers by all....you cannot have this discussion without politics...unfortunately, our beloved vettes have become political......

Remember the 2005 and it's quirks like putting it in reverse before you turn it off or you come out to a dead battery? I'll let the guys paying MSRP+ deal with that.
However, I think I'll be ready for a ZR in about 3 years so the timing works out about right.

I didn't care much for the C3 through C6 LS2 models, and I've made 58 modifications to my C6 LS3 to get it to be the car I really wanted, a fast, sexy, excellent handling and riding, luxurious, safe, economical and practical all-season touring car at a reasonable price. A pretty damn tall order for the C7, and if the styling even hints of Camaro, inside or out, an impossibile one.

I'm interested in seeing what they come up with for the new generation - especially the Z packages.
But, nothing they do will make mine any less powerful, handle worse or less fun to drive.

Well I have a C5 now and want to get a new C6 vert this year so I will be fine. If the C7 looks like the spy photos it will be with the C4 in I will never have one camp.

I remember when the C6 came out and the popup lights were removed. I thought “man, what’s up with that?”…..I now own a C6 and think it’s beautiful. I’ll probably roll my eyes when the C7 comes out but I will grow to like it. I attended a vette show recently that had all the generations. They are each special in their own way.

I have the 2nd year model of C6 ZR1 production and could not be more satisfied. It is as close to perfect as it gets. I will be happy to wait until the 2nd year of production of the C7 ZR1 equivalent. What a pleasant thing to be pondering, though!

Another thing that will continue to bother me as the C6 winds down is that GM marketing blew a number of opportunities with the C6.
GM waited WAY too long to develop a 427 vert (or Z06 vert) of some kind. Needless error.
The Grand Sport model should have been more true to the real Grand Sport's racing heritage and not just show up as the new 'base' Corvette C6. It could have been a special order bare bones track Z06 or ZR1 like the Z06X was supposed to be with lots of deletable options.

And many would argue that it wouldn't have been such a success in the form of sales numbers. The GS relaunched the sales of the Corvette when they were really needed.

If I had the garage space I'd collect them all. I honor all of the older generations of Corvette. Seeing a C2 or C3 on the road excites me as much as a current model. A neighbor street parks a C4 and I frequently stop to admire it. The C7 is simply an introduction of a new baby to the family. The older children need not be disowned.
