I just went through this last week. Insurance covered the replacement minus deductible and both the insurance person and the glass guy asked me about HUD and OnStar.
If the glass guy doesn't know enough to ask, I would be looking for another. In my case, the glass place also does all the glass for the local Chevy dealer so the Vette was no big deal.
I can't believe how thin the windshields are.
Last I looked, the HUD windshields have a clever secret code down in the corner. The code is HUD.
If there is no insurance coverage, some people will buy a non-HUD windshield. Many people running a HUD with non-HUD windshield report good results, but some have problems.
My thinking is that GM could save a bundle of money by eliminating the HUD windshield when they build the cars, but they are still spending the extra bucks for the HUD windshield. They must have good reasons, this is the company that eliminated the lock on the console lid to save maybe $5?
The sad thing is I watched the stone come from a truck in another lane. What a sick feeling! It started out as a chip and 100 miles later it was an 7 inch crack. I contacted the insurance company today and they are covering the windshield. COntacted the company referred to me by Tally Ho, the Vette guy is on vacation but will be back to work Wednesday. It does have the HUD/XM and GPS (NAV System).
Windshield without UE1 (Onstar) without UV6 (HUD) 25821509 List $ 521.18
Windshield with UV6 (HUD) without UE1 (onstar) 25821510 List$1,302.97
Windshield with everything (HUD and onstar) 15778613 List $946.79
Z06 is also specific if it has Onstar or not, but HUD is a given.
What about with Onstar, but without HUD? Pretty sure my '08 is equipped that way.
Is the only difference between with or without Onstar, the paint pattern near the Onstar module? The reason I ask, is that when I needed a replacement, the supplier brought out a (w/o - w/o). He realized the mistake, but my old cracked one was already taken out and cracked even more. Not wanting to wait 2 days for a correct one, I opted to let them mask the extra area and paint it like the broken one.
Maybe I should have just disconnected the Onstar instead.

The OEM Onstar glass also comes with the antenna bracket already attached to the inside glass. At least mine did when I had to replace the ZR1 windshield July last year.
twice in my lifetime debris off a consruction truck chipped my windshield. got the plate # got a police report and they contacted the owner. they paid with no problems.
Got a very small one in February.
Right in my line of sight, though, so insurance paid for replacement.
Guys did an excellent job.
About an hour in the parking lot at work.
HUD and all the antenna mounts.
Ahhh, nice fresh, clear windshield!
Until I picked up another chip a few months later.
