Default Is Installing Z06 exhaust manifold worth the trouble?

I was about to take the plunge, but thinking about how much I would really gain...I don't' know. I already have a very nice pull with the set up I have now, and I will have the car forever so I will one day do major mods like cam, valve springs, new heads, maybe supercharger, etc, in maybe 5-10 years. But to get another engine tune in addition to all the labor for putting on the Z06 manifold; just want to see if you all think it is worth it. Already put a lot of money into the car recently with cosmetic upgrades and have done some performance mods. But really I would just like a little more sound, although I already have a great sound with what I've done. I can get an x pipe done for $70. would the 200 for the manifold, 250-300 for labor, and then 400 for a tune really be worth it? Again, I will probably do more stuff later when I have more money but I just realized how it is adding up.

You don't need to tune for the Z06 manifolds.

If it was me I would get a complete ZR1 setup or 2012-13 Z setup as the mufflers got a better and louder sound when open, I know I got a set of 2012 ZR1 mufflers on my Coupe along with the manifolds

So should i just wait until I can find the ZR1 setup? That would be good because there are a few things I need to take care of before throwing down a big wad of money.

I really like my ZR1 setup, quiet when I want and a nice rumble when open with the NPP in a box setup I also had installed

I'm going to hold up for now. I will probably look to do this sometime in the spring when I can find a ZR1 set. I had a good offer from a member here, but the more I started adding up not only the cost, but the time and I go back to work Wednesday, it just isn't doable. I will get the x pipe done maybe tomorrow and I think I will be happy with that for now. Should give a little different sound. I know its not a performance bump, but I like the performance I have now. I mean, we all have some powerful cars you know!

Anyone have an exploded picture of the LS3 exhaust manifold to use to compare with the above LS7?

If you're going to the trouble of changing out the exhaust manifolds you might as well go ahead and install some long tube headers. These will for sure get you some low rpm torque. Torque is what you will feel!

That's why I decided to just get the x-pipe done today at the exhaust shop. Already I feel a smoother throttle response, and although it may not really be possible, I feel like I have more acceleration. Probably not, but that's how it feels. Not a super sound difference but I'm happy with what I did. If I will go through the trouble, might as well do headers. But that won't be for awhile, I already have more than enough power for me. Plus its fun to gradually move up, instead of do it all at once. In a few years I can liven up the car by doing major mods, but I enjoy it how it is now.

Honestly this LS3 has more juice than I can use on the street anyway, & on the track it's also plenty fast. But as you can see in the above pic, those hydroformed LS7 headers are pretty slick.

And the '10-'12 GS NPP has great sound however, or B&B fusions, so I don't know that you need to hold off until you find the ZR1/Z06 versions. I decided to hold off too though, as it all looks like more trouble than it's worth, risk vs; reward, etc.

whats different in the "newer" zo6 manifolds?

i see the whole set up sale for pretty cheap and i can install my self.... but i would figure the ZR1 exhaust would bolt up better since i think i read some where the z06 exhaust has to be modified some for a base model.... or am i wrong?

i have a base model, manual 2010.

The newer Z06 mufflers are one and the same as the ZR1, better sounding and louder when open

just buy a set of used headers and then get a tune. You will notice a big difference.
