I've been hunting for my first Vette for a little while now and tonight I drove my first c6.
I'm in love!
05 Machine Silver, A4, about 70k on the clock. Has most options, HUD, Nav, etc. Also has chrome spyder wheels.
Pretty clean inside and out, only a couple scratches except for a 3/4" gash on the front bumper. I'm not too happy about this but it's not a deal breaker.
Clean Carfax.
The dealer wanted 24k and I was able to talk it down to 21.
I'll be honest and say that I have relatively little pricing knowledge when it comes to c6's. Does this sound appropriate?
I'll be taking a second look with a buddy who is a mechanic at a GM dealership tomorrow and likely taking her home.
If I were you I would def not do it. You can find brand new coupes for $39k with factory warranty and ls3 engine which is more powerful then the ls2 on the car you are looking at with 70k miles. I say leave it and find a better one.
You got to do what you want. I am not a good one to ask about price. I found a 08 CRM 3LT Z51 auto with 7,300 miles for 35,000. I fell in love with the first drive so my hubby bought it for me.
You might want to look at prices in the C6 sale section and on cars.com to compare prices. Bottom line. It will be your car. Hope you get what you want.
Keep us posted.

And if the OP is not comfortable in spending more than $21k for the car, what should he do? Remember this is his first vette. Some feel more comfortable easing into them. Look at it this way. I doubt the car will depreciate very fast now at this price.
OP, based on what you have told us, I don't really think that 21k is too far out of line, if at all. I'll give you a bump to the top and maybe some 05 value pros will show up.

good advice, for only double the price you can get a new one. why not just steer him towards a ZR1 while you are at it.

OP says 21,000 and you suggest he spend double that

I'm simply Educating the OP on how much a brand new one will cost him. Let's get serious 70k miles is a lot for a vette and who knows the condition of it. I've seen a ton of ls3s with 25k miles on it go for High 20s to low 30s on the forum. Used c6 zo6s are for sale for 40s. I mean if you want to steer the OP the wrong way so be it.

Actually it's very good advice. ZR1 is 100k or more. 5 or 6 times what he said so your comment isn't too funny nice try. And we are supposed to be helping him out. Original C6 base coupes used to go for high 40s to low to mid 50s or more depending on options. Since introducing the grand sport, base coupes are now as low as 39k brand new. Also brand new he will get factory warranty. This is something the OP should know and be aware of. Not to mention the c6 has come a long way since 2005. Lots more enhancements as the 2005 was the first c6 model. Also no warranty on the car. I bought my 09 coupe brand new and have had 3 fuel pumps replaced already all covered under warranty. If it wasn't that would have been pretty pricey.
OP - simply trying to give you advice and educate. Best of luck and watch out for haters on the forum. We have plenty.

you should have replied with the above the first time.
I have no way of knowing the financial postition of the OP, but I'll ask you again. What if he doesn't feel comfortable spending more than $21K, are you suggesting he wait until he has $39K and feels comfortable?
Ain't no one around here hatin' on no one.
The OP asked if $21k was an appropriate price for the car described. I didn't see you answer that question.

Agreed we do no know his financial position. I think this price sounds ok but if he is willing to spend a little more he can def find a better car w less miles for sure. Anyways best of luck to him. In the end I'm sure he will find the car he wants and most importantly he will be driving a vette!
$21K is a good price for that car in very good condition. I sold my 05 F55 coupe with all options except nav two months ago for $22,900. It was in very good condition with headers and NPP mufflers. It had 93K miles on the clock.

Don't sound bad I too would negotiate getting the bumper repaired and does it need tires? A at 70k on the clock could be right before a new set or right after.... Let's see some pictures!!!
Another idea is to wait just a couple more months when people start storing their cars and you may be able to find the same price but possibly less miles or something in better condition. I bought my Vette almost 2 yrs ago, the LS3 was a must have so I waited and waited for an 08 to pop up. I live in AZ and here prices stay high as do the miles due to the great weather all year. After waiting for 3 months I found a 08 w/ 6000 miles in Ohio at a Benz dealer for $30k even. They could not even drive it due to the snow so I bought it sight unseen(although I had family there that went and looked at it for me and trucked back to me here in AZ. It was in perfect shape, not a scratch on it! Getting a 1LT was fine w/ me as I didn't care about nav or anything else. I used the money I saved on headers, exhaust, intake and tune. Waiting for the right deal to come up and widening your search will give you options. I did the same thing w/ my wifes Lexus and ended up getting the best cars I could, the lowest miles for the least amount of money. Just a thought and good luck.
