No matter, I don't waste too much time looking for threats, I get an alert, I just slow for a short time. I'm not one to constantly speed, I do from time to time, but not usually during heavy traffic. I'm more concerned about a jealous, or over enthusiastic law enforcement loving driver, calling the police to report a wreckless vette driver. Then they just sneak up on you without radar, and you are caught. Two of my best friends are cops here in town, they usually run with their radar off, and flip it on when they observe someone going over, so my detector is useless against them, or those like them.

Yeah, I hear ya. I'm not even close to the fastest driver on the road either. To me, it gives me peace of mind and makes driving more enjoyable. Most of the time the detector goes off and I'm OK, but there are occassions that I loose track of speed and need to slow down.

Nice thread
Im in the market for a RD also.
RD will be for the DD C6 so I am leaning towards the Passport 9500ix since it learns where the false alarms are and cancels them. Also need the blend mount and power wire that plugs into mirror since I can not handle power cord hanging off RD.

I don't drive any vehicle without a radar detector.
I have a radar detector in all my cars, they are the Beltronics RX 65. they do a great job and are reasonably priced.

The refurb RX65 (S7 antenna) is the best deal in the market today. For around $200 you get a great unit.

Anyone tried the Escort Live? Justadded it and like the advance warning. I think it will only get better as we get more users reporting.

In our county, some of the sheriff's patrol cars have radar, some do not, so it's a 50/50 chance on whether you pass one and get an alert. As I said before, a couple of friends are city cops, and don't have their radar running, until they spot a speeder, then turn it on. I have to wonder how many other officers also use instant on. While I trust my radar when it gives me an alert, I am very aware that I may get nailed by a sheriff who has no radar at all, or cops like my buddies, who leave theirs off until they need it.

LI is the best on the market today. However, they are expensive.

9500ix with blend mount I picked up used for a killer price in the parts section here. It works great in FLA and picks up FHP like nobody's business. I'm considering adding laser protection too.

Most departments in my area run laser so having a detector is just about pointless unless its paired with a good laser jammer.

I've been running the Escort 8500's for a few years now in both my Vette and my Avalanche... so far so good. I have recently considered trading them in for the 9500's though. I prefer them over the V1. My buddy had a V1 in his Z06... I hated it because it was going ff all the time.. he loved it for the arrows. To each his own

I love my 9500ci and its features. Took about 6 hours to install by myself because I was careful to make sure everything work as it was intended too.

Default Detectors

Valentine 1 in the Corvette and Escort IQ in the Cadilac. Both are great units.

The Laser Interceptor is the best laser jammer available. For a radar detector it spends on where and how you drive.

Agree 100%, LI is the best hands down, the top 4 or 5 detectors are very close, just depends on your personal preferences as to what is the best for you.
