interior lights does not turn on
When i open the driver side door, the interior lights do not come on (day or night). If i open the passenger door they do. If i open the trunk, the rear lights go on. If i leave the driver side door open then the alarm does not arm, however, when i close the door it knows that the door is closed and then arms a few seconds later.
If i press the gauge light switch dimming **** (the **** near the trunk/fuel button) the interior lights all come on. I press just the button on the mirror then that individual light comes on. When the car is running and i turn it off, all the interior lights come on.
Iv tried looking for a door pin switch to see if its stuck or what not but for the life of me cant find it. Also the book says "You can turn exit and entry lighting off by quickly turning the courtesy lamps on and off". I tried pressing the dimmer switch on and off quickly as it states but no luck. Not sure if the car needs to be in acc mode or on mode or running or just plain off. But even so, the car knows that the door is closed cause the alarm wont arm till it shuts. Any ideas as to why my interior lights wont come on when i open the driver side door? Thanks in advance.

I held the door closed and pressed the door open pad. The interior lights did not come on until I moved the door to open. This tells me that the door open/closed switch is in the door latch assembly.
But you say the anti theft system arms. Wouldn't the door open/closed switch control both the theft alarm and the interior lights? This is to me what is strange about your problem. How else would the car know to arm the theft system if the door open/closed switch is faulty assuming this switch controls both the alarm and the interior lights?
When I either open or close the door I hear several mechanical relay switches activating. Maybe one of these switches turn the lights on but wouldn't that same relay switch operate when the passenger door opens, which you say is operating correctly.
Did you try changing the door auto lock feature on and off in the DIC options list? Does the same problem exist when you turn the auto lock on/off?
Sorry I could not help much, I am guessing here as well. Hopefully another member who understands the control system will see your post. You may have to go to the dealer for a control module re-flash or have a relay switch replaced. Whatever is the problem it is probably something simple.
Good luck.
If anyone else wants to chime in on any ideas id really appreciate it. Would rather not take it to the dealer to get charged 100 dollars just so that he can tell me "ohh all you had to do was this then that and voila! Now will that be cash or credit?". So thanx again in advance for any leads as how to fix my problem.
