My c6 automatic won't start!!!
My C6 will not start and it is not the battery, I bought a new battery after all this time about 6 months ago.
I took the car to Mancini Auto here in Port Richey, Florida for them to replace the celluloid that controls the gas door. The door would not stay closed the repair shop told me the celluloid was bad and they would need to replace it, which they did.
When I picked up the car I drove her home no problem. I went to a friends and I had to move the car and when I proceeded to push the button to start her up nothing happened. The engine light came on briefly and the little lock and key showed up also on the instrument panel. I noticed the brake, nor the emergency brake worked, the car started to roll down hill and the car gear shift slipped from park to drive and back up again too easy, there was no, "catch" between gears. Does anyone know what this all can mean? Did the auto shop mess up something under the hood? Or could the brakes, starter, transmission all go blewy at once?! Please help.
That is, make sure your dealer inspects the electrical post on the starter solenoid. This post is where the battery cable connects to the solenoid. And it's accessible from underneath.
A damaged post or loose connector can prevent your car from starting. This has been reported before, like this: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...oid-cable.html
Possibly, a loose battery cable is causing the rattling noise. But I don't recall this ever being reported, so I suspect the noise is a separate issue. But who knows?
Of course, starting problems can be caused by a battery that's weak or dying or damaged-by-discharge. But I'd definitely check the starter solenoid before replacing the battery (which you might need to do anyway).
This is definitely resolvable. Let us know what finally fixes it.
I dont think the noise is related, I think you have a case of PCDBS ----- Premature Corvette Dead Battery Syndrome !! My C6 will not start and it is not the battery, I bought a new battery after all this time about 6 months ago.
