I have not ridden in a vette since 1970. I know absolutely nothing about them. but i plan on buying one for my retirement gift to myself, 2 years from now. GM shut down the two chevy dealerships near me leaving a couple in town but not convient. on line inventories show 3 new vets to look at. i initially wanted a convertible under $20k, with a hitch so i could pull my bike to the mountains. now... sort of moving away from the vert to the coupe...and no hitch required! question, do all coups have the removable roof or is that an option? with the roof panel removed, is there anything negative to the ride such as dust flying, extreme wind noise and such? is the convertible noisey with the top up like my mustangs and jeep were?
All coupes except the Z06 have the removable top. There is a bit of wind buffeting with the top off but nothing severe that affects the ride or the epxerience of having the top off for a nice cruise.
No experience with the Vert but have not heard of any noise complaints with the top up.
Z06 and ZR1 have fixed roofs.
The convertible is quieter than the Coupe - in either configuration.
C6 Corvettes under 20K will either be really well used, rebuilt or branded. If you want under 20K and a nice one, most will be C4s (fourth generation - '84 - '96) or perhaps some early C5's.
