When i take my to the dealer ,i record my miles & average gas mileage. One time when i dropped it off ,the average gas mileage was 16.5.and when i picked it up it was down to 13.? that told me that the tech drove the **** out of it,.,.,.
He'd have a hell of a time doing that. The old man the dealership is named after died several years ago.
Last I heard, Ray and Jim Huffines were still alive. Ray was running the Plano stores and Jim was running the Lewisville stores. Try contacting one or both of them.

I was referring to their dad. Now he, was truly hands on.
I don't know anything about the window valet, but does it record the highest speed of the last time it was driven, or simply the highest speed ever recorded?
It reads top speed and highest rpm's , I made sure I reset it at the front drive when I dropped it off so before I got out of the car I checked it and they were both at zero
i will say it is illegal for any dealership person to go above the speed limit for any reason on andy test drive. If the shopisnt doing anything then I would call higher up and complain.
I don't think they will give you a discount. But I would try to talk to the owner or general manager. Tell him what happened and about this thread, then find another dealorship. Classic in Grapevine or Vandergriff in Arlington are 2 of the best for Vettes.
I would be pissed but thank goodness nothing happened. I would speak to the owner and see what they say. Maybe they will help you a little on the bill and apologize.
You must also realize that that is only 23 mph over the speed limit on I-30 now.
The guy really should be fired for admitting going over the speed limit in someones car as I said before its illegal for them to go over the speed limit when diagnosing things and testing them. Go to higher headquaters and file complaint. This is how stupid **** happens and luckily it didnt happen with your car.
Yes I agree 98 mph isn't that fast and I have had it a hell of allot faster but I own the car not some young kid, I keep thinking about all those hertz rental corvettes, whats left maybe 10 or 15 ? You got to respect the car and the power and I don't think the people working their needs to be driving any bodies car at that speed needles to say a corvette. The speed limit on 35 in Lewisville is 60 mph so that makes it almost 40 over.
You know thats a speed trap down that stretch,if he got a ticket how would I find out? It got me to thinking did he make sure the oil was hot or did he rap it up with a cold engine? Ya right , I drive it hard but I make sure its ready to be driven hard. Sorry guys I am very **** when it comes to my car. Bottom line, Live and Learn
I feel you. It's just not necessary; but, to place Devil's advocate:
I'd be much more concerned how they got to 98 mph and how far they drove it. If for example, I took my car in for a buzzing wiper cowl, wheel shimmy or weather stripping issue and the dealer easily took to 98 mph on their test drive, I'd be happy knowing I wouldn't rediscover the original issue if I accidentally exceeded the speed limit in the future (it happens!).
