Good Evening All: New to this forum. I purchased by GS on Saturday & picked it up Monday Evening, and by lunch time today the battery was DOA. Battery replaced and all is happy now, but not the way I wanted to start my Corvette experience off.
Your car must have sat in the showroom a long time with alot of people going in and out of it.
I just replaced the 2nd battery on my 2005. It died over last weekend. Usually you'll get indications such as DIC messages, etc as the battery starts to fade. Just put in a new one, and usually all will be well... Mines a DD so its used all the time. 60,000 miles.
Until this thread I was worried something was wrong with my 07 like a short somewhere... I flashed a new tune into mine last weekend and left the door open during the read/write. After everything finished I went to start her up and take it for a test drive but all I got was a clack clack clack.... I jumped the car with no problems and haven't had a problem starting since. I went ahead and did a CCA load test last night and it failed miserably.

I know space is tight but a larger battery would have been a bonus in these cars... the battery is pretty small for sure...
Yep, especially on C6s with the battery in the hatch. It's the same freaking battery the 4-cylinder Impalas use . Geez. The good news is it's $113 MSRP at dealers. I'm going to replace the one on my '12 out of pocket since it's still good but weak. Car sat for 5 months at dealership, and windows needed reindexing meaning it was dead at some point. Definitely sulfated for leaving it discharged for a long time. You cannot leave them without trickle charging them if you want them to last long. Most modern cars simply draw too much (parasitic) current to leave them unattended for weeks. You can, but it's not wise.

Z-06 Corvettes have batteries in hatch area. Problem with Corvette is that it is space limited.
Jeepers op, your car is an 07 and the battery is just now going? You should be happy you got almost 6 years out of the thing. I'd be pretty happy if i get that out of my vett's.
Your battery issue is not like many have had where the battery fails pre maturely you got full life out of yours!
Did you use a maintainer to get that kind of life out of it? I keep maintainers on my vetts but did leave the trunk lid open on my 04 and the battery was dead and was never able to recover. It was 3 yrs old.
They must've put the good batteries in the '07's!
Still on my original battery. The car routinely sits for 2-3 days out of the week, and at least 3x a year goes for 2-4 weeks without being driven.
Now watch... I'll go down to the garage and the car won't start...

Or sat on the lot for a while, with only being started up to move it around the lot.
I always cringe when I see the dealers wheel the charger out to a car with a dead battery... you know they're not worried about the damage done to the battery by letting it run down, and they'll just keep putting a light charge on it until they sell it. At least then it's a warranty issue.
Just went and put a new battery.... Holy cow this is the most expensive battery I have ever purchased.... Anyway after I started her back up there was a significant difference in the sound of the starter (sounds stronger). Glad this thread came up and prompted me to replace it. Plus I thought freed up at least 15 - 20 horsepower.... Well until I put her drive

That's why I factory order my cars. I don't want a car that has been sitting out in the sun or one that people have had a chance to get in and out of or get fingerprints all over it.

that's great. since this original 2005 battery is still being good to me and passed a load test I'll probably end up getting AC Delco again unless for some reason I find out that the battery they make today for the 2005 is not as good as the original 2005 battery for whatever strange reason that might be. I would always think the newer batteries that came out after car would be superior and better made that the older batteries. I hope so in this case because this AC Delco has been very good to me.
so am I crazy if I fall under this dead battery syndrome? Mines a 2008 automatic, it's left me high and dry twice this month. Nothing is left on-I've chscore more than once. The battery tested fine, but wasn't under a load like some of you have mentioned, this beast gets driven on 3-4 days a week. Sits in a temperature controlled shed, something is pulling a big draw. When dad and I rehooked up the battery there was a good sized spark so something in the car feels the need to suck the juice. If anybody had info that would be awesome. Thanks!

OEM Delco battery? Once it dies, it never fully recovers.
And if your battery is the original, get a new one -- average life of 3-5 years is not uncommon, depending on use & abuse.
Or maybe it's something else. From another thread:
That is, I bet you have a loose/corroded battery-to-starter-solenoid connection.
Other possibilities:
-- Corrosion on battery clamp/cables.
-- Loose clamp on battery terminal.
-- Incorrect terminal nuts on battery (they must be cone-shaped nuts or else the clamp won't tighten).
-- Brake microswitch is misaligned/damaged/faulty (you should hear a clicking sound when pressing the brake).
-- Faulty starter switch.
Of course, I'm assuming you're pressing the top-half of the starter switch (the bottom-half engages the ACC mode).
