How many of you are ready to purchase a new C6 with the fantastic deals available now, but are slightly on the fence waiting to see the upcoming C7? I have 2 excellent deals teed up for a new Z and a new Grand Sport, both in stock, but with the new pix taken by a Forum member of the C7, I am hesitating.
There is no question one can get better economics on the C6. The dealers, not just the Forum dealers, are taking huge discounts off MSRP. Those discounts combined with the $3000 Corvette loyalty rebate make for fantastic deals on a large in stock selection. I think the C6 can be purchased so well now, that even if the C7 was fantastic, one could be purchased in a couple of years without a huge haircut. I am also getting a good trade in value on my '04 6 speed Coupe with 30,000 miles.
I was going to wait but I couldn't resist 0% financing. I pulled the trigger yesterday. I will worry about the C7's later while I enjoy my new ride for the next few years.
I went looking for a C6 because of the C7, and found a great deal on the one I purchased last month.
I do not like most of what I have seen or heard about the C7 so far. Although nice looking cars, I feel a C6 looks better than any of the spy photos or renderings put out so far. I kind of felt it was my last chance to buy a car I was completely happy with. I also don't like that the engine will most likely shrink even if it does produce more HP, and it may very well have cylinder deactivation, which I feel is intolerable on a sports car.
On the plus side I believe it will most likely handle better as most reports agree that it will indeed be lighter.
I'm sure the GM engineers will do a great job evolving the Corvette experience, but I don't feel it is going in a direction I would choose.
But my tastes are different than most. I went out of my way to find a Firebird Formula because I feel they look nicer than the Trans AM, and I feel the 360 Modena was the best looking car to come out of Ferrari.
I guess sleek is my thing in a world where aggressive looks usually win the populace.
I am just hoping it's not a disaster like the 80's where they focus on fuel efficiency more than anything else.
