I took a stone to the windshield of my 2007 and it needs to be replaced.
The body shop at MacMulkin can replace it.
Does anyone have any experience with MacMulkin replacing their windshield?
The body shop manager wants to have the car for the day to give the adhesive some time to cure before driving the car, so there will be no opportunity to observe the work.

Thanks in advance.
Since they are the second largest Corvette dealer in the country I would feel confident that they would know what they are doing.
And, yes, I bought my car from them but live to far away to let them service it.
Well they may be contracting that labor out. Dealers sometimes use the local touring "installer pros" who tool aroundfrom dealer to dealer by appointement with said dealers...They aren't even connected to said dealer but are independant glass installers.
That is what happened to the last glass I had installed. (warranty replacment on a Cruze earler this spring)
No matter if they farm it out or do the work in house they will stand behind the work. From my dealings with Tommy and Amanda (she handles the paperwork when you buy from MacMulkin) they are top notch.
If it was my Vette and I lived in the area I would trust them to do the work.
There is no dealer service better than MacMulkin in my opinion. I would not hesitate to have them do anything to my Corvette. I purchased two Vettes there also.
I do not know of any new car dealers that do glass replacement! They undoubtedly will bring in a glass repair shop which you can seek out yourself! Just make sure they use factory glass.

I would be surprised if they don't actually farm it out to a local auto glass company.
I agree with that, when I ran service dept, we farmed out glass replacements of any kind.
If you are going with your car insurance, let them send someone to your house, and they will do it there, and you can watch, and let it cure up at the house.
You could always call them up and ask the service writer who actually does the installation, do they use OEM glass, and do they stand behind the work...phone calls are amazing when you do them.
I think they all call 'Safelite'. The only thing I don't know is if they'd use OEM glass or not. And if it's any better than what Safelite uses. My decision would depend if insurance covers it or not for less than the actual cost of replacement. If not, compare prices with Safelite and then decide. What I like about Safelite is they do it right at your house, under your full supervision. Good luck.
When I spoke to the body shop manager, he said they do it in house. I specifically asked if they sub out the work and he said no, which brought my question if anyone has had a windshield replaced by them.
Massachusetts auto insurance pays 100% for glass, however, the body shop manager said that if the car is more than two years old, insurance will only pay for aftermarket Safelite glass. He also said that Safelite makes the GM glass and puts the GM brand on the glass. No GM on the "aftermarket" glass.
Aftermarket also has the HUD glass, so the ace I thought I had didn't play out.
I'm free to pay the difference if I want the GM mark on the windshield.
So, has anyone actually had MacMulkin replace their windshield and were you happy with their work?
It is obvious that MacMulkin does not stock windshields. They call people like Safelite or Philips glass to come to them and do the work on site. Just stay away from 1 800 54 GIANT. Had a bad experience years ago with them on a Z28 W/T tops. Living in Mass. were I-95 could come apart at any time, PHILIPS GLASS has never let me down.
A glass story. I bought an off-lease Deville. When it got cold weather, I noticed my hands got cold while driving. Investigation showed about a 6 inch gap with no filler right at the bottom of the windshield in front of the steering wheel.
Car was still under warranty. Local Caddy dealer told me to take it to a local glass shop. I took it in and they quickly asked 'Is this a lease car?', and I said yes. In my small town, they said they have seen several off lease cars with this problem. They said the 'mobile' glass replacers are called into the lots taking cars back off lease, or even into the auction company lot, and replace glass. And they do a crappy job, such as was on done on mine.
They were able to pull the glass without breaking it, which didn't matter to me because it was a warranty job, and reuse it.

Not sure about all C6s, but my '09 C6 Z06/HUD windshield is supplied to GM by AP Technoglass. They've changed their name in the past couple of years, but still has the same parent company. Perhaps AP Technoglass supplies Safelite, but I don't believe Safelite actually manufactures windshields.
