Default Convertible Question

I have a 2000 vette convertible and have trouble with the rear window falling out (maybe 3rd times a charm).

Was just wondering for the day I get a newer model if anyone with a C6 is having this problem.

Trying to get my options out there for what year I might want to get.

Thanks

I have not seen any threads on this. Perhaps you'd like to do a search to see if there are any posts?

If you do a search, the majority of the posts are on the older models, such as mine.

I am hoping that when I get a newer one, I don't have this issue as much. It's a pain, but I really love the car.

Thanks

My 98 had this issue. My 2006 has not. The design is different between the C6 and C5.

I've had my '05 vert since new & never had a problem. Always been garage kept (with an indoor cover) & relatively low mileage....the top & rear window are good as new.

Thanks - that helps a lot. Hopefully some others give me the same answer because I do not want to go through this again when I get another one.

I must say that I really love the design of the C6. My C5 is really nice put the C6 design is just beautiful. There's not a lot of change, but just enough.

Been here 8 years and don't recall seeing any posts or discussions of that and I'm pretty confident that is something I would remember, especially since I have a C6 vert.

I've never heard of that happening either. The glass window is bonded into the canvas top as a unit and is basically one piece. The glass and canvas are replaced as one unit...lord help you if the glass gets broken.

Well, since the window in mine falls out almost once a year, that's not good either. It is supposed to be heat sealed. I got my 2000 back in 2009, it was a low mileage and garage kept. One month and a day after I got it, the window came out. First time held in for 1 1/2 years, the next time was 1 year. I really don't want to put in a new roof because I am looking to get a newer one soon and don't want to put the money into it. It is kept in an enclosed car port and I never drive it in the winter when the weather is bad. The only time it got snow was 2 years ago when we had a blizzard, the roof on the carport looked cracked so we got it out and we ended up having a second blizzard the next day and I think the weight of that snow ended up making the window come out early.

I just want to get a newer model and it MUST be an automatic roof. Don't know how many times I've been caught in the rain, have to hurry and find a place to stop that is safe because I have to get out and get soaked. It makes for funny stories afterwards though.

You will also appreciate the indexed windows on the C6. My 98 would leak every time it rained hard or I hit it with the hose wrong. I had the windows adjusted several times and after a while it would leak again. My 2006 has never leaked a drop.

If you want a power top you will have to make sure the car you look at has the 1SB option for 2005 or the 3LT option for 2006 up. 2005 and 2006 can have the 1SB or 3LT and still have a manual top. In 2007 the power top became part of the 3LT package.
