If it's a complete 3rd party warranty by something like "ABC Insurance Company" I would RUN away.. You're throwing your money away. The only one I would suggest is the GMPP.

Some of these companies are here today, gone tomorrow. And so is your money.
My vette has tended to eat end links 2 sets replaced under GMPP...other then maintenence items it has been pretty much trouble free, got another year so we will see how it pans out if I keep it that long.
I have faired well with warranties but I understand that is not the norm, most say it is a waste of money...but YMWV, i have done a good deal of research on warranty companies, most will NOT print out what they cover under different plans unless you request a quote...which is suspect at best, at least with GMPP they state what they cover, do your research it will pay off if you decide to buy, good luck.

I had a third party warranty on my previous car.
There are some things I didn't know when I purchased the warranty. They had a cap on the labor charge. Their allowable labor rate was less than that charged by the dealer. They had to preapprove repairs. Replacement parts had to come from them. They were OEM parts, but the dealer wouldn't warranty the work since he didn't supply the parts. The company went out of business, but the warranty did pay for itself.
Go with Dennis Fichtner, forum fav on here from Fichtner Chevy in MT..
I bought a 36 month/60,000 mile (time and miles in addition!) GM Protection Plan, Major Guard (mimics factory warranty), $0 Deductible for $715....
On my prev 2011 coupe, that covered me out to 70K miles (had 10K on it when I bought it)
...for $272 per year for that peace of mind, covering parts and labor, and a rental for anything over 2 labor hours, who wouldn't think that's a fantastic deal?.
I would get the GM warranty with the zero deductible if you are going to get any kind of warranty.
I used to buy extended warranties previously and was sold a 3rd party warranty once. My power seat was stuck and it was a defective track and the warranty company did not cover it. Dealer wanted $700 to fix, so I took a hammer to the seat track and voila, seat track worked again. Mind you not as pretty as before and not as smooth, but it worked.
With 3rd party warranties, the dealer has to first diagnose the problem first, then call the company and describe the problem and then the company says if it is covered and authorizes the work if it is covered. If it is not covered, you are still on the hook for the diagnosis from the dealer.
In any event do a search using "Warranty Direct Complaints", see what you turn-up on this outfit. Keep in mind there's no shortage of shills on the Internetwhile while reading reviews, too.
The governor and insurance commissioner in the State of Florida deem GMPP's to be an insurance product and thus you must be a licensed insurance agent in the State of Florida to be able to sell them, I am licensed to sell in the State of Montana but Florida does not allow me to sell them there and too much red tape to go thru to get a license from them. It was a sad day, made many friends over the years selling them their GMPP's but if you live in Florida and ever move contact me again.

Good grief.
Wonder what role FL's GM dealers played with this 'law'?
Thanks for the update Dennis, while I'm at it thanks for the GMPP you sold me on my '08 Z06.
