Sorry no pics yet I know how you all love them but pulling onto base I got backed into. Hitch went right through the bumper. So I know a lot of people usually upgrade after accidents and was wondering what bumper choices I have. Will a GS or Z06 fit and will they come with fog lights? Fogs are different right? Just considering my options before I get a estimate.
To go a widebody conversion you need both fenders and bumper. Go to www.gmpartshouse.com and you will find complete conversion kits for ZO6, ZR1, and Grand Sport changeovers.
You can get an aftermarket bumper that will look like a z06 bumper but wont require you to purchase new fenders which will be quite costly. Also unless you're also trying to do the back I wouldnt do the fenders.

Thanks all.
I just put a GS bumper and fenders on my car this last weekend. Fog lights are the same. Do it , if the insurance company buys the front bumper, you can buy a set of GS fenders for about $400( thats what I paid for mine). The widebody rears are the cheap part. Wheels, you can buy them used or new or just use adapters for a while, I ran them on the rear for 2.5 years

trade the car.you will have a accident on the car fax which will bring the value down, even though it was minor.hard to get rid of a vette with a accident.

The lens is different..... Notice the squareness of the GS and the tear drop of the base.

Yes, throw the entire car away because it needs repair.

brb a bird took a shit on my house, better sell it and buy a new one.
Lol yeah selling it is a little extreme. I don't plan on selling her for years so I will stick with fixing it.
I'm just seeing my options. I know a lot of people seem to get the upgrade fever when they get in an accident. Luckily I don't think anything besides the bumper was hit. My intercooler for the supercharger is a few inches back behind it but its fine.
I'm getting a damage estimate in the morning and posting pics in a few. I saw a C6 bumper with the Z06 vent and it looked nice but the price difference may not work out. Seen OEM bumpers from $200 and I think the Z06 style was around $900. I don't want to pay a ton for a small upgrade like this. Anything over $200 is probably out of the question.
They use reconditioned parts that meet or exceed OEM quality (we'll see about that) but I can use an aftermarket part and pay the difference. Now I need to see what this guys insurance says about it all. The collision estimate place asked if I wanted to pay the $1000 now and get started.... definitely cleared everything up real fast with them. Time to call my insurance company and get everything moving.

Don't let them put aftermarket body panels on the car unless they are the widebody parts you buy from a known quality vendor.

That's a joke right?
It's a freaking bumper cover....People have this irrational notion that Bowling Green assembly line workers screw corvettes together with a level of precision that can't be exceeded or even matched by any competent professional body or repair shop.
there's ZERO structural damage to that car. If the new bumper is painted properly, the quality might even be BETTER than when the car was new.

Exactly......hopefully Lord dude was joking....had to be...I mean really!.....yeah it was joking time for sure....had to be....actually the damage looks pretty superficial to me.....but I am not a body guy.....and I am not joking!
ps...thanks for your service
I would go with the Eckler's Z06 style bumper, but beware, their photo also shows a ZR1 style chin splitter, and I doubt this is part of the package. The ZR1 chin splitter is really what makes the car look good, be it a base or GS/Z06 style bumper. Problem is, with the splitter you should also install a Curb-Alert, otherwise you will surely hit a parking barrier with it. Be sure to get a 2009-up crossed-flags insignia, it has a chrome surround instead of a stamped aluminum one like 2008 and earlier. Or better yet, fill-in the mounting hole recesses in the bumper, and leave the crossed-flags insignia off; then people will confuse your common Chevy for an exotic.
