I have a 2005 C6 coupe with 6 speed manual transmission, way too many problems to list but just last week it caught on fire. The fire started in the 02 censor area, on the drivers side, I don't know if the clutch line broke first or the 02 censor, or road debris who knows. The only thing I do know is it is at the dealership and all the techs say the same thing that they have never seen this happen before. I was able to stop the car, go to a store and get a fire extinguisher and put out the fire. Now it is at the dealership and I am fighting with the insurance company. PLEASE HELP.
Oh man, that's awful. Fighting with ins Co's is a pain. I don't usually promote this kind of advice, but I'd get a lawyer. And whatever you do don't let the ins company take possession of your car. Once they get it in a fence they control you can't get to it if you want to. I've dealt with this crap on at least 3 separate occasions. I won't ever do it again, I'll just call a lawyer. The 1st time was with State Farm and they were MY insurance co. I dropped them right then and there. They still screwed me cause they knew I had to push to settle for daily transportation.
I think this may be the first time I've read about any C6 catching on fire. It's very rare. I'm sorry it happened to you and hope you get it resolved quick.
I have Ameriprise Insurance (full coverage) they say that they will cover the damage caused by the fire but not what caused the fire. The rub is that no one can tell for sure whaa caused the fire. Any thoughts?

So, what's the problem?
Everything that was caused by the fire is going to get fixed.
Why would you EVER think they would fix what caused the fire.
Well isn't the juxtaposition that, whatever caused the fire was most likely damaged by the fire, so hence, it will be replaced?? I agree with another poster that this is definitely a rare occurance. You mentioned having a lot of issues with the car prior to this. Anything that could have led to a fire?? Fuel supply issues??

That isn't what your first quote says. Maybe you misunderstood them?

If they don't know what caused it why would they even say they will cover everything but what caused the fire???? Not sure how a o2 sensor would start a fire sounds like the clutch line let loose brake fluid and hot exhaust don't mix too well but. I have had a few fire cars through my shop they have to fix it if the car is repairable sounds like the dealer is doing you a favor saying they don't know what caused it.
Kinda my thoughts no mention of headers sounds like the clutch line burst sent fluid on the hit azz exhaust and poof had a fire could not have been a bad fire since he was able to run in a store get a fire extinguish then put it out. Being a shop owner and dealing with ins. company's and the highly skilled adjusters (haha) you have to watch what you say there out for the company not the customer when I do a ins. job I will not let them settle till the job is done as far as what caused it who cares at this point get it fixed hope it don't happen again.
My 1979 caught fire in front of my house and I didn't call FD until I was sure it was a goner. Insurance company totaled it and I rec'd money to get a new car. I believe that anything that catches fire is not something I want around anymore so I would rather let it burn and move on to next project.

I thought about this as soon as I read the OP's post........but I was afraid to say it..........
I would be very surprised if it isn't crystal clear on this point. They will repair damage to your car caused by an accidental event. If a tree falls on your car they won't fix the tree, they'll fix the damage to your car. If bald tires cause an accident they won't buy you new tires.
