Default engine tick

I have an engine tick in my ls2 C-6 motor. Auto trans paddle shift.

WHen I start the engine it is pronounced but goes away after a few.

I am thinking one of two things.
First: an exhaust part
Second: sticky valve

THe engine runs a little rocky for 1-2 minutes and then is its same old self.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a sticking lifter. When was the last oil change?

THe oil gets changes every 3K along with the filter. I have not messed with top oils because of Mobil1.

I agree with you that it is a sticking lifter.

WHen using synthetic oils I am always worried about this exact problem.

On all my other vettes I use PenZoil and I have over 100k on one and 60K on the other. Every so often I would add a little Uato transmission fluid to the gas and since it is almost pure detergent my engines are always clean and tidy, no funnty stuff. I drive them hard.

Do you think there is some solution that does not mean replacing the lifter/roller/rocker assembly?
