Default Bi mode question

Noob question...My 05 has proflow mufflers that were on it when I purchased. I'm interested in changing to npp and got a deal on bi mode mufflers that I plan to open and modify to get the npp sound (blocking off the holes internally). My question is if these are off of a 2013 Z06 and I have an 05, can these be welded on in place of the current mufflers or will I need the h pipe as well? Thanks for any help, I'm helpless when it comes to the exhaust on these cars so just looking to make sure I have all info beforehand.

I'm being offered a killer deal on the mufflers, so thinking it might be worth the mod versus spending much more on npp that fits an 05.

In all likelihood, somewhere along your exhaust some welding is going to need to take place in order to use the Z06 bi-mode exhaust.

Unfortunately I don't know anything about "Proflow" mufflers, never heard of them. What size inlet pipe is on the current mufflers?

If your exhaust is stock from the headers to the axle and these mufflers have been welded to your stock exhaust over the axle pipe and these mufflers use a 2.5" diameter pipe then you may have a small issue.

The Z06 exhaust system uses a 3" diameter pipe. In order to fit Z06 mufflers to a non-Z06 car you need to have an adapter fabricated to go from 2.5" to 3" and if you have to cut off the old mufflers, there may not be enough room to do it at the after end of the over the axle pipe.

I guess we need to know more about your current plumbing in order to give you a legitimate answer.

You do also realize that you will not get the operation of the bi-mode portion of the muffler and without additional hardware and effort you will have a open all the time system?

Im assuming you mean something like the Npp in a box kit? If so, than yes, I understand that I will need that as well.

It looks like everything is stock underneath. The pipe going into the mufflers is a 2.5, so that may be a problem. The mufflers are going to cost me $175, so I guess at this point it is a matter of cost comparison.

I run ZR1 mufflers on our 09, same muffler as the 2013 Z. You do not need to open muffler to make them sound better. Just get the pipe fitted to accept the mufflers and install NPP in a box. What I did different was to put on a complete. ZR1 exhaust, so no welding for me.

From everything I have read on here I was under the impression that the npp is significantly louder than the z06 bi-mode. Are you referring to specific years or did I get my information wrong somewhere along the way?
