Default Battery draining!!

2006 auto. 19k miles. Dead battery...back to dealer. Dealer said problem with faulty cable, replaced. Two weeks later, dead battery. Back to dealer. Dealer called to pick up car, said they reprogramed key fab? Dead battery....in dealers lot!!

What the hell is draining this system? This system is deader than disco! Not even a click. Battery has been tested, charging system tested. Nothing left on.

Car is at dealer.....I just don't have a lot of faith in these guys.

Any thoughts out there??

Well, various things could be draining the battery. Or, the dealer might not even be able to correctly test the battery and it might be bad. Since they have 'thrown parts' (the battery cable) at the problem, it doesn't make their diagnoistic capability look good.

Are you sure the battery is dead?

That is, the battery might be OK, but the battery-to-starter connection might be damaged/corroded.

Or maybe the special cone-shaped terminal nuts are lost:

Anyway, since your battery has died at least twice, you probably need a new one -- especially if it's the original battery.

And if your C6 sits for 2 weeks and/or you only drive short distances, you're killing the battery. Use a good battery tender to keep the battery charged.

But maybe there's something else killing your battery. A seat heater short-circuit or other under-seat wiring crimp/short is not uncommon.

More than you'll ever want to know about battery issues:

The battery is always the first thing to check. Make sure it's had a load test. It's the only way to know is it's good.

Well seems my 2006 has Lojack. A defective one to boot! Had it removed today and we'll see how battery holds up.

Tech said often, after market components can cause these quirky electrical issues.

Hope they got it this time. Just a few more weeks of good weather before it goes to storage.
