I traced this same rotten egg smell to the windshield wiper fluid, YES, windshield wiper fluid. Have no idea why it smells that way but, open the cap and I wanna puke!
Is the fluid you use a "Bio-fluid" made from plants? My wife purchased some one time and it stunk to high heaven! NEVER again!
I have used nothing but Costco since the day I took home my '13 GS. Sometimes it smells and sometimes it doesn't, confusing considering I never change gas brand.
I believe the sulphur in the fuel and catalytic converter may attribute to this issue. I use Chevron 91 octane in CA and smell this sometimes when accelerating hard. I wonder if the brand of gas is related to the burning sulphur smell?
This makes sense and for me I initially thought it was due to the car being newer (only 4K miles) when I purchased it. However, I see here some still smell it even after 30K miles so it's certainly not the new smell wearing off some of the hot parts. As pointed out, I tend to smell it after some spirited driving and then parking it into the garage. I don't think it smells like rotten eggs or sulphur but it's certainly strange and noticeable while cooling off in the garage. If nothing else, it's good to know this is normal or a quirk of these cars.
I have noticed the same odor on a Sunday drive after eating a heaping helping (maybe two) of Saturday night supper beans. It's a New England thing!! I recommend a dose of Beano following ingesting. Bronk
I have a 2009 Chevrolet Corvette with about 37,000 miles on it and I have been noticing a funny smell compared to something burnt or rotten eggs coming from the vents upon accelerating hard. It does not do it all the time... only when I hit high RPMs to pass someone or taking the on ramp, getting up to speed quickly. Has anyone else ever experienced this?
I had a new LS7 and clutch/flywheel put in my 2009 Z06 and the smell went away. Still using the same gas.
It is a pretty nasty smell. I have experienced it in every modern corvette I have owned from C4 to C6
Usually lasted no more than a few minutes though.
The only thing that smells that bad for 7 years is Staten Island and North Jersey
Not not his meds. If the car was sitting anywhere for any amount of time high probability there's a dead mouse or chipmunk got in and drowned. take it out clean it out.
