Here in San Antonio we rarely have this problem. I have washed in 40+ winters - but it's rare. The heat here is unbearable in comparison - and I am a native. We hit 90+ today - and humidity is awful. In the heat of August, it's still 100+ at 10pm - the only time i can bear to be out washing my ride... Send a little cold down here, man!
I was born in San Antonio and as a fellow Native, I do feel your HOT/HUMID pain. As I approach retirement I'm thinking about staying away from that part of the country in favor of the cooler weather. Consider some colder weather sent your way...
If there are snow shovels for sale at a Loews or a Home Depot in Naples, FL, management/buyers are doing a very poor job. So poor would they be doing their job that they would soon not HAVE a job.
Can't find 'em here in So. Calif. either. Which is why I moved here.
Yeah I hear ya man. Personally I never did see the attraction to cold & dreary winters dealing with snow & slush & ice and having to wear layers of clothing. I'll take sitting on the beach in January anytime.
Not much experience washing the car in the cold but had 35 years washing the big rig at 4 am doing Winter months. No problem getting the rig clean but numb hands is another story, even with our mild Central California climate. No fun in freezing temps when spending 45 minutes. The thing is that drying was not part of the process just a brush and soap wash.
Unit would be dirty again first trip through a wet quarry.
45 degree is about my cut-off. I am not a fan of washing cars in freezing temps...I've done it before and water can freeze locks, get stuck when the windows move up and down having water freeze in the door can't be good either.
Below 40 is when you start running into issues. If its shady and the car is cooler than the air, you'll get ice. I've been using Optimum No-Rinse for about 5 years, before that QEW, and wash in the garage with the door closed.
