Default Squeaky squeaky

11 C6 coupe 18k miles. Slight braking action seems to produce a pronounced brake squeal at the rear.
Any remedies???? Thx all! 🙉

Replace the brake pads.

I have a 2009 with under 18,000 miles. Got the brake squeal every time I hit the brakes. Tried to scuff the pads and turned the rotors. Worked for about a week, then the squeal came back. What upset me was the pads still had about 50% life left on them.

Trust me... save some time and hassle, and replace the pads. Went through one of the forum vendors and got the front and rear pads for about $125 cheaper then the dealership.

Good luck...

Squeal can usually be fixed by removing the pads and applying anti-squeal paste to the backs of the pads, and between the pads and any backing plate there might be. The anti-squeal paste will dry to a firm coating that lightly adheres the brake pad to the caliper or piston, and that eliminates the vibration the pad makes that generates the squealing noise.

You may have some brake dust built up in the caliper, but if you decide to change pads take a look at the Carbotech 1521 pad.

The Carbotech™ 1521™ is our high performance street compound. The 1521™ compound is known for its release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. 1521™ is also a very low dusting and low noise compound with an excellent initial bite. This compound's excellent linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Carbotech™ 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 800°F (426°C+). 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle or fleet vehicle. Carbotech™ 1521™ is NOT recommended for ANY track use.

What type of pads did you buy and how are they working out for you, I've heard good and bad about most of the replacement pads out there (Hawks, OEM, etc.). And did you go with ceramics? Thanks....
