World series MVP gets a 427 'vert
#21
I think everyone here expects a reaction like we/you/I would have if a 427 vert would be given to us. He did respond favorably when the keys were handed to him, but as already stated here, the vette is not as important to him as it is to us. We work very hard for ours he plays baseball for his.

Did anyone see the game? Fox also added some special effects to the ball being pitched, it turned the ball blue. So freaking annoying!!! you couldn't even see the ball until it arrived at home plate. They did call it a Camaro.

Team Owner
Heard he was pissed getting the FOURTH best Vette (ZR1, Z06, GS, 427), when he was the FIRST best player.

Agreed, and yet the players' unions of different sports have the nerve to lock out seasons because they want more money.
The XFL that Vince McMahon started was a colossal failure, but it had some great ideas. I think a standard pay based on time in the league is fair, and a bonus for winning. Limit the number of trades and such, so that the players can't just go team shopping for more money/perks.
I feel like the level of competition is far lower in sports than it used to be. They don't seem to actually care anymore because they take home such huge amounts of money regardless of their performance. Then they have the nerve to complain about having a 10 year career that only net them a few million, and because the college athletics situations is equally f'ed up they have no skills or use in business, probably can't read or write at a college level, and have to hope to the a commentator job or something.
Obviously there are some exceptions to the rule, but it's a disturbing trend as athletes move more towards being entertainers.

One, player's and unions organize strikes, owners organize lock outs.
Two, athletes are entertainers, and they go for a percentage of the take, when the owners make more players ask for more. You want to assign blame, it goes to everyone willing to pay inflated prices for tickets to get into the game and then pay inflated prices for food, beer, soda, peanuts, popcorn, and everything else at the stadium. I like pro baseball, and love pro basketball, but it has been many years since I have gone to a game. I refuse to make the players rich and the owners richer.
Just as a side note, everyone complains the Yankees have the largest payroll in baseball. They also have the second highest average ticket price of over $50 and the highest premium ticket price at over $300. SanDiego has the lowest average ticket price, $15.76 and the lowest payroll.
Average in the league for a family of four to go to a game: 4 tickets, 4 sodas, 4 hotdogs, 2 beers, 2 programs, and 2 caps (I know why buy two programs) is over $200, Red Sox being the highest at $330 and Diamondbacks lowest at $145.

On a More POSITIVE note
I remember in 1955. Johnny Padres received the first World Series MVP Vette. He was thrilled and kept it for the rest of his life. I wasn't even sure GM still awarded a Vette to The Series MVP.
