Default C6 prices

The C6 will soon be escorted off center stage as the soon to arrive C7s take the focus of attention. When will the the C6 new and used prices take their inevitable nosedive.

There are already outstanding incentives on new C6's. The onset of winter, plus the next model year are seeing to that.

Pricing on used models is somewhat harder to gauge. Depending on how well received the new model is, you may actually see a price increase on used cars. This is somewhat common around new launches because there is some pent up demand for the old style cars where people hadn't yet taken the opportunity to buy.

More than likely you'll see used C6 pricing remain about the same, especially for later model year cars.

Your not really going to see a "nosedive". The average car will adjust with what can be purchased new comparing apples to apples but everyone knows the first year most dealer will want full MSRP or MSRP+ with this many people will wait to trade. Many will wait to trade fearing the 1st year blues most cars have.

Your specialty models should fair decent ZR1's, Z06's, 427 Conv, GS's (3LT plus cars) etc. The average coupe thats over the price point of $40,000 will be more difficult to sell. The C6 has been a great car and if the newer C7 isn't as people would like they will wait (the backend shots I've seen so far would make me wait).

As long as you have a $10,000 plus difference between a nice used C6 GS, Z06, Conv (3LT+) and a new C7 then this would be a big price difference more many buyers to stay C6 for now. Example C7 Convertible 3LT, Suspension, wheels, Nav, etc with an MSRP of $70,000 and you can buy a 2012 GS Conv, 3LT, Nav, Wheels, NPP, etc for $55,000 with under 5,000 miles, then I think most will buy the 2012 GS and wait for a $15,000 price difference. If you making payments thats about a $300 a month difference in payment.

From the pictures I've seen I'm not won over yet so we shall see.

C5 never really nose dived even with the C7 coming quick............dont look for the C6 to be super cheap anytime soon. Maybe around 2038.

I also don't think we will see anything close to a "nosedive". The C7 is a year out and will initially sell for little or no discount from MSRP. It is reasonable to expect that used C6 prices will follow the same path as C5 prices did -- a gradual decline consistent with the age of the cars.

We're expecting to budget about 35k next summer for a vette but if new 2013's drop to 40-41k when the 2014's come out we may go with a base 2013. I'd love a GS but don't see those dropping 10k in the next year.

I was also curious as to whether the C6's would take a noticeable dip in value but most appear to think not. Time will tell.

From everything I've heard about the C7 so far, only 450 hp but with cylinder deactivation, headrests that suck, a 2014 Impala steering wheel, and Camaro/Malibu taillights, etc., I wouldn't worry about drastic depreciation of C6 or earlier models.
