Shocks leaking??
Is it possible that you have several leaking ? Yes however all parts are date and batch coded so if there is a failure it's usually systemic thru out the parts run.
Good luck.
laconiajack,
Yep, brand new G/S Vette with now 650 miles on it.
3 Shocks have oil on the "outside" of the shock. How does tire dressing get on the interior side of the shock? More specifically how does tire dressing get there when tire dressing has never been put on the tires?
The horn issue is definitely a problem. It does it on my car, a new car sitting in the lot, (works fine on 2 of the new cars in the lot) and guys have stated the same on this forum as being an issue on their cars.
Yep, it's under warranty and I'll be back in another few hundred miles to address the same problem with the shocks. I guess it's just the ***-pain GM puts you through. Time will tell.
Now, to keep it positive, they did change out that noisy brake relay that you hear when you press and release the brake pedal. But, that new one still talks to ya every time you touch/release the brake.
Regarding Heavy Equipment, sometimes you gotta be smooth with that Heavy Equipment. It's amazing what just a light touch of your thumb can do. Honking a horn does not and should not be part of my daily workout routine. The horn should honk when the horn button is pressed..........whether it's your pinky, palm, thumb, head, foot, or cell phone.
Oh ya, Made in Mexico stamped on the outside of my shocks. I see the Engine is made there too. Pure American Muscle......not.
So, I took it to the Dealer to fix the leaking shocks. Their fix was to wipe the "installation oil" (their words, not mine) from the outside of the shock. They test drove it for 10 miles and verified no leak.

I now have 70 miles put on the car since I left the dealer. I put it on my lift to inspect the leaky shocks that had "installation oil" on the outside. Low and behold, I now have more "installation oil" on the shocks again.

So, back to the Dealer to have the leaky shocks replaced........I hope.

Dropped the car off on Tuesday at 10:00 to get the shocks with "factory installation oil" replaced. 3 days (Friday) I picked up the car with 3 new shocks AND a broken/cracked Drivers side rocker panel near the rear lifting point on the drivers side. So, back to the dealer on Monday.

I picked the car up from this particular dealers body shop. Looks like they did an awesome repair job. They patched it with a SMC repair kit, painted and polished it up. Looks better than new actually!!
I managed to pick the car up directly from the body shop to avoid the car getting near the Service Department again.
Hopefully this is the end of any shock problems for this car.

Glad it's all done. Suggestion: not sure this is the place for normal service.
