hmmm how am i going to connect the costar bluetooth module to that?
if you mean parring you bluetooth phone to the onstar system.push the phone buton, say bluetooth, say pair.it will ask to do a search for new devices on your phone.your phone will say device found.the onstar will give you a number which you enter into your phone.job done.
hmmm i think thats when u have the bluetooth package for the vette right? I have a 1lt package and I dont think that onstar has bluetooth capabilities. I can make calls with onstar since i purchased minutes. I bought the costar bluetooth that replaces the onstar module to make calls via the onstar system.
Contrary to what seems to be the prevailing notion here, the OnStar module (VCIM or Vehicle Communication Interface Module) is not the black box on the windshield. The black box contains the car's cell phone antenna and the OnStar GPS antenna. On coupes (depending on model year) it can be found in the rear compartment just ahead of the passneger side storage cubby, or under the passenger seat. On convertibles I believe that it is located behind the waterfall.
Prior to 2010 the base and Z51 cars had the Onstar box (Vehicle Communication Interface Module) mounted in the passenger side cubby under the hatch while on Z06s/ZR1s it was located below the passenger seat. Once they came out with the GS they couldn't put the module under the seat since they wanted to keep offering passenger power seat tracks for the Z51 replacement and to offer them in the Z06/ZR1 so the VCIM was redesigned and moved to a spot above the IP Fuse Box/BCM, behind the glove box. With 3 models having the box in that location they may have decided to move the base car VCIM there as well.

Bill
Good info. Bill, thanks for the correction. I have an '08 coupe and mine is in the rear luggage area just ahead of the passenger side storage cubby (It is not in the cubby, it is in front of it, beneath the carpet in a recess in the floor). Didn't know that on the newer cars they had moved it to the passenger side fuse block location. That would seem to be the logical place for them to have put it for all models in the first place, starting back in '05.

Its in back of the rear compartment. That compartment is a plastic insert. If you move the carpet out of the way you can see the vcim. You can see it in that link you posted. There is a picture at the bottom.
ok, i removed both the passenger side cubby carpet and the driver side cubby carpet and the the vcim is not there.
Look in the passenger side footwell area beneath the panel where the fuse block is located. According to Bill Dearborn's post above, it is located above the fuse block under the floor board in your model year 2012.
Sorry, no. Mine is in the rear compartment, beneath the carpet in a recess in the floor just in front of the passenger side cubby. But I have an older model than yours ('08 coupe). If you can gain access to the service manual for your car, the location will be shown there (I purchased the service manual for mine when I bought the car and it is in there).
