Grinding sound at take off
I have a 2012 1lt manual which has approximately 750 miles on it. I have noticed that when im in first gear and taking off from a stand still a grinding sound comming from the front of the car. It continues to the start of second gear and the goes away. 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th gears are fine. The sound mimics grinding gears. I took it to the dealership with 150 miles on it and they told me that it was normal and showed me an explanation from chevrolet on it, stating that noise happens at low rpms. Does anyone else notice that sound as well.

My 08 had a noise that it made at low speeds especially turning into parking spaces. It turned out to be coming from the differential and there was a TSB on it. The dealer flushed the differential and put new oil in and the sound went away.

The sound you are likely hearing is caused by the front engine/rear transmission configuration and completely normal. Do a search on "marbles in a can." It is likely noise associated with the torque tube and is a low RPM vibration.

Thank u both for your help in this. I forgot to mention that the service manager Is a real good friend of mine and I have total trust in him. I just found the noise a little odd from a 40k+ car. I was just worried that something could be wrong.
