So I live in New York, where gas is now more desirable than gold, and harder to obtain. My Corvette has been sitting in the garage for a full week now with the fuel gauge showing just over a hairline.
What I'm going to have to do is wait for 3-4 hours for gas like everyone else, but even if I do that, finding 93 octane during this crisis is next to impossible.
Can I go and get 87 octane and use those 'octane booster' fluids they sell at the auto parts stores? I'd really like to get back behind the wheel.

Northern nj doesn't have high test either right one. My suggestion based off my personal experience of over 250 miles so far..the 87 octane has nonnegative effect what so ever on my ls3 and I've been hammering it since I missed running it. I also checked with a world class GM tech and he also told me regular gas by itself with no additive is needed.
My suggestion just put regular in and forget about it.
If you had your PCM tuned by a tuner than it's anybodies guess.
Today I notice the difference in power...actually it's not so much the power but rather the power delivery seems a little more course. You can barely feel this but it's there.
Could be the second fill up this morning at another station I don't know. It's certainly cooler today than yesterday.
The cars fine. The computers will easily compensate and just retard the timing.
As a hp loss? I'd bet it's a simple 20 at most but the smoothness of operation seems off,
So minor..it could just be my old bones as the storm prepares to rear it's ugly head...LOL. Enough of this storm nonsense from mother nature. With that said.....use regular gas with confidence in this hurricane premium shortage and as premium becomes available buy premium.
Thanks for the advice everyone. I was going to go and get some normal gas for the car today, and then the world suddenly decided that it's January, and we are now having a noreaster. Can't win!
