Default Front Splitter

Has anyone added the carbon fiber or simulated (plastic) carbon fiber front splitter to their C6 or in particular C6 Grand Sport. I really like the look, but was not sure if it causes any overheating issues, is difficult to install or gets damaged easily from scrapes. Photos would be awesome. Thanks.

My view is a splitter greatly enhances the appearance of a C6. It causes zero overheating issues.

The down side is it's very vulnerable to damage by any number of means. Steep driveways, gas station access and um, driving off track. Of course, if you are very carefull and never forgetting it's there, it may live a long time. I thought I was that kind of a person....my first splitter lasted about two months. Am currently awaiting a replacement.

Anyone who installs a splitter on a C6 should consider it expendable....sooner or later.

Super easy to install. Took me about 20 minutes, including the removal of the dam it came with. A handful of screws and some 3M tape. Easy. Buy a curb alert and take all driveways at an angle. Carbon fiber with Cyber Grey looks perfect. The added length of the splitter balances out the car visually, especially if you have a spoiler.

Got mine from Josh at RPI. Real Carbon Fiber and a great guy to work with. Super good customer service!

Ok then. Just like that all my questions have been answered. Does not inhibit air getting to the radiator, easy to install, looks great and can get damage if not careful. I always take dips at as much of an angle as possible, so hopefully I can make it last awhile. Thanks for the prompt replies.

So is the full ZR1 kit (side skirts, rear spoiler, front splitter) available aftermarket? I assume you can buy it all new from GM also but what would it be worth, 3K?

Yes, you can buy the ZR1 parts aftermarket. Check out RPI's website. Or Google: carbon Fiber splitter and side skirts corvette forum.
You'll get a lot of info that way.

Have carbon fiber splitter - zero issues.

Also for the other posts, have carbon fiber sides skirts, diffuser and spoiler - really adds tremendously to the appearance of a vette.

I agree, they are very basic aesthetic mods and really set the car apart from a regular corvette.

Gregory123: thanks for that I will look into it.

After tagging a curb, I have ordered a replacment from Josh at RPI. I will have the original repaired. The Carbon Fiber looks fine for not. Should get it later in the week. Those with just fiberglass be very careful. Atleast the carbon fiber is tuff as steel. Only scraped, not cracked after side swiping the curb.

That's a great looking product. Post your thoughts after you get it installed.

You need one of these if you put the splitter on. That is not really nicks in the finish, just some flaw in the picture. The Curb Alert beeps at me 18" from the curb.
