How to set torque?
Does any one know how to set the torque on the nut holding the rear lower A arm ball joint to the upright spindle? The halfshaft is right above the ball joint so the is no room to use a socket and torque wrench to tighten the nut to the proper torque setting. In fact the only wrench you can use on the hut is an open ended wrench, there is not even enough room to slip a box ended wrench on the nut! Any info would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

I just put a wrench on it and wrap my paw around the wrench and woof on it. When it's nice and snug I put the cotter key in and let it fly. never a problem in 27+ years.

the proper procedure does not use torque. it is torque to yield. it is also tightened with the cv shaft out of the way. then you install the cv shaft and install the whole unit in the upper control arm. service manual is your friend if you are going to work on a corvette. good luck
