OK. I took your guy's advice and put it on with just a little pressure. I started the car and let it run in the garage for about 15 minutes and the warning never came back on. I think that cured the problem. Thanks so much for your input. I really appeciate it.
i tried most of these .. the one that worked (i think) was just by twisting the cap without clicking...just barely put it on, twisting it but stop just right before it goes on the first click...
btw something weird happened. i had the warning light on, then i reinstalled the cap and drove it to the shop, while driving the light went away, so i thought awesome it was the cap,,,i went to the shop anyways to retract the codes and what i had was lean code on both banks ??? P0171 and P0174...
could the gas cap caused this or do i really have a lean condition and need to re-tune?
