I was wondering if anyone knows how to remove the plastic trim on the dash that is on the left and right side of the steering wheel? I want to remove them to have them painted and a couple of the switch lights are out as well. Thanks!

Yep. Probably just a bit darker red. That looks really nice! Did you paint it or have someone else do it? Or did you purchase all of it already painted? When I pulled on that plastic trim with the switches in it, it seemed like the whole part including switches would have pulled right out. Is that what will happen?
You have to loosen the lower trim panel (couple screws above the drivers feet) and pull it forward - it has two clips in its top that go through holes in the bottom of the IP surround.
After you get the lower out of the way, the upper surround just pulls off - it's all clips.
I don't remember if the switch pods have screws or not, but I do remember that it's easy to remove them once you have the surround off.
Don't see why not. Obviously you wouldn't be able to change any DIC or HUD settings. Worst-case you might have a warning in the DIC. But I doubt it.
Anyway, you could remove them at home and drive around the block - then you'd at least not get a surprise when you drop the parts off.
Another option would be to remove the switch assemblies from the housings (the housings are what you're having painted) and plug them back in - find some way to attach them temporarily while the housings are out.
