I have done searches and found nothing..so here goes.
I have a pristine 2005 C6 Base with Manual trans and 69K miles.
Today after getting gas I backed into my garage as I usually do, put the trans into reverse prior to turning off the ignition but continued to get the "shift into reverse" warning on the dash. I tried this numeous times but continued to get this same warning despite the fact that I was already in reverse. I also pulled in and out of the garage a few times using first and reverse and still got the message.
Finally, I popped the hood and disconnected the battery. I found no blown fuses etc. I reconnected the battery 2 more times with the same result. Plus after the last time the car was dead except for all the warning lights on the dash and working headlights but now wouldn't start at all. Frustrated, I disconnected the battery and went to my computer to search for the problem.
About 30 minutes later, I reconnected the battery and now everything is magically ok....The car starts as it should, shifting into reverse when shutting down the engine turns off the "shift into reverse " light as it should etc.
So now I am totally confused.....anybody have this problem in the past ? And did you have a solution ? My only wild guess is that maybe the back up solenoid located on top of the trans is sticking and needs to be replaced ?
I, too, have a 2005 MN6 coupe with about 61k miles. I've noticed some strange things show up lately. I just changed the battery in my FOB and still got a No FOB Detected display for about five seconds. I wonder if more gremlins will show up as time goes on.

Might be RF interference. Do you keep the FOB next to a phone or other transmitter?
Weak/dying car battery can also cause "No FOB Detected" message.
Next time you get this message, put your FOB in the glovebox slot and see what happens.

Less common is a problem with the RCDLR module: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...defective.html
If you're worried about other gremlins, consider installing a Column Lock Eliminator before you get stuck: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...ssues-fix.html

The 05's seem to be more susceptible to battery issues. Is you battery old or new? If it's more than about 3 years old I would have it load tested and make sure it is up to snuff. I had an 05 and after 1.5 years I had to put a new battery in and it cured my woes. This was a pretty common problem on the 05 and early 06 MY cars.
Would assume there has to be a position sensor that tells the control module the car is in reverse. Could be the problem here. '05 DBS has been a topic for years here onthe CF but it was addressed by GM with a reflash, after which not sure reverse gear parking was still required.
thanks for the responses.....my battery is new and I did have it load tested..
I agree it is probably a sensor of some sort...I am going to pull the back up solenoid tomorrow and bench test it....other than that I am probably taking it to a local Vette shop for diagnosis and repair
OK...problem is now fixed. Had to take it to a dealership. Turns out it was the back up lamp switch part number 89060011 which is in the loop for proper vehicle shutdown. Only cost $275 out the door including troubleshooting and labor which is cheap considering it was at a dealership.
Sorry, wish I'd seen this earlier. Very familiar due to having this problem myself previously. Only difference is my dealer (Vegas) wanted over three grand to repair it! I towed the car home and diagnosed it myself as the back up lamp switch.
For the future, there are two identical switches on the pass side of the tranny. The switch is quite cheaply built and usually fails internally so it grounds to earth. Once it goes you will get several restarts of the car until it will refuse to start. If one fails, the way they are wired means they both fail to send the signal as required.
One is for the reverse lamps (via bcm) the other tells the column lock module to lock. Because its a sclcm fault that logs, the bcm eventually disables the start circuit for safety.
The switches can be reached easily from under the rear of the car with a 22mm deep socket. You can remove them without draining the tranny. They are about 45 bucks if you know where to look.
Since my issue approx 12 months ago lots of people have pm'd me for info and it has always resulted in getting them back on the road. The switches are a weak link I believe.
That must be a solenoid not a switch. I replaced this part myself on my 2005 c6. it actually sits near the skip shift solenoid which is hanging off the side.
Thanks for all the input.....My car runs perfectly now. I usually do alll my own work as this is a hobby car for me and I enjoy doing the work but there are some things you have to go to an outside source for....this is the first time I have gone to a dealership for any work in probably 20 years so thankfully it was a positive experience. FWIW, The tech told me this was the first time he has seen this particular part fail.
Alright guys I hope I am posting in the right place. Just got my 2005 c6 and it will not start unless I shift into reverse....I am really confused on this and was wondering is this how everyone has to start there 6spd manual? Thanks for any input guys.
