HUD Problem
At first, everything worked just as it should. It was great. I went for a short 20 minute drive and everything was fine. Then.....
As I was pulling into my parking place, the instrument cluster lights and the radio died. I shut the car off, hit the ignition button and as soon as it fired the engine died as did all interior accessories including the instrument cluster, doors, windows, radio, etc. If I turned the radio on, it would light up and display the time for about 20 seconds and then power off.
I then pulled the gauge cluster bezel with all the switch wires. As soon as I popped it loose most everything worked as it should. Now the only things that don't work are the HUD and the range reads LOW when i have half a tank.
I assume the HUD doesn't work because I can't see it. It is ultra bright daylight out though so I'm not sure if it should be visible or not.
The battery was unplugged just as it should be for the entire install.
The only issue I had with the install was that the ground wire was too short and pretty tight pulling on the hud switches but it loosened up once the bezel was in place. Since everything worked at first I'm not sure what the issue here is.
Any ideas or help?
After I installed my HUD, I tried fob #2... long-story-short, I believe there's a memory or default or something that might've changed your initial HUD adjustments.
Anyway, it's easy to adjust the HUD, so try that first.
2. Check the CLSTR/HUD fuse in the passenger footwell.
3. If you still can't get your HUD to work, unfortunately you'll probably have to check the wiring.
4. The too-short ground wire you described might've pulled almost loose during the install... then dislodged during your first drive.
5. If you have to remove the IP again, might as well double-check all the wiring connections... much easier in good daylight.
Whatever the problem, I'm sure it's fixable.
It would take less time to replace an existing HUD because you don't have to splice-in new wiring.
An experienced installer like Andrew can replace a HUD in an hour or so.
Shaky/wobbly HUD image is not uncommon... it's caused by a broken plastic pivot pin. Lots of threads on this topic, like these:

If the HUD is damaged, there's lots to consider:
1. To fix it, the HUD has to be removed. Maybe it can be repaired. But will the repair work? And how long will it last? Might as well get a new one -- I think it's about $225 from partstaxi.com.
2. One method to remove & replace the HUD involves removing the dash. I believe this is a 6-8 hour job at a dealer. Detailed instructions & pics here: http://www.theredlion.us/C6%20HUD%20...%20Rev%202.pdf
3. Another method involves "cutting the duct." MUCH simpler and far easier. An experienced installer can do this in an about an hour. The duct is re-installed, so HVAC functions are not affected.
4. DIY if you're handy. Lots of forum members have added HUD to 1LT/2LT cars; your job would be easier b/c you don't need a new wiring harness. Here's a thread with tips, pics & links: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...my-09-1lt.html
5. Maybe there's a forum member near you that's done this job and could walk you thru it...

If anyone orders the kit from gm pars house, just go ahead and lengthen the ground wire! It really needs to come longer in the first place.
Thanks guys!
The install took me 5 hours from start to finish. Not too bad, just tedious and rough on my hands.
And it scraped my hands pretty good, too.
