Trying to help family member w/ their new 2013 GS...
Trying to program in a 9 dip switch fixed code into the universal remote. This code works with a 2008 Coupe. I've tried entering the code several times, following the instructions carefully, nothing's working.
I've tried starting from scratch, and clearing any memorized codes as described in the instructions and trying again.
The remote seems to be identical to the 2008...
Since it's a 9 dip switch code, do I need to add additional neutrals (to total 12)?
I've searched/read other threads re: the remote, none seem to cover issues w/ fixed code (older) systems w/ newer vetes..
I'd been under the impression it's the "rolling code" types the biggest PITA.
In any event be sure you enter codes quickly, otherwise it won't take.
Keep a list of all codes, enter 'em consecutively, should work fine.
FWIW this threw me for a loop on my '08 (seemed more difficult than my '06) 'til I learned it has to be executed within a short period of time.
My 2011 has a procedure for programming the "Universal Home Remote - Fixed Code" in the owner's manual on page 5-66... It says to: (1) Press start or put the vehicle in acessory mode. (2) Verify the opener is a fixed code unit by removing the battery cover on a hand-held transmitter and looking for switches. There can be 8 to 12 switches. (3) Write down the eight to twelve switch settings that can be either on or +/off or -/middle or 0 or neutral. (4) From inside the vehicle press all three buttons at the same time for about 3 seconds and release the buttons to put the Universal Home Remote into programming mode. Left Button is "on or +", Middle button is "Neutral", right button is "off or -". (5) The indicator lights blink slowly. Enter each switch setting that you wrote down within 2 and one half minutes. (6) After you have entered all switches press all three buttons. The indicator lights turn on. (7) Press and hold the button that will be used to control the door until the door moves. The indicator by this button should slowly blink. This button may need to be held for up to 55 seconds. (8) Immediately release the button when the garage door moves. The light blinks rapidly until programmiing is complete. (9) Press and release the same button again. The door should move confirming that the programming is complete and successful.
