Default TPMS question

I'm thinking about buying a used set of HRE's. They have 01-04 TPMS in the wheels. My Vette is a 07. If I don't replace these at first will the car set a code or any lights come on? Thx guys.

Your car will not be able to see those sensors, so the DIC will tell you that the TPMS system needs service. If you keep your old wheels in the garage near the car, then every night, the car will read the old sensors and fool you into thinking that the system is working correctly. It takes about 15 miles of driving for the system to decide that it has a big problem when it can't read any of the sensors. If you drive less than this and then back into the garage where the old sensors are stored, you won't see a warning on the DIC.

Pretty sure C5 and C6 TPMS sensors are different, but best checking with member BEZO6(Bob), or the Tire Rack to be sure. Know C5 and C6 wheel offsets are different though, so maybe check into that. Also, if you don't run the proper TPMS sensors programmed to the C6, certain performance traction funtions, wont work properly. I have the TPMS programming tool, and will need to program the sensors to the car. Most tire dealers can do this.
