I didn't say all 3 flats happened in my driveway. One happened at work, one happened at a shopping center and one happened in my driveway. I've had 7 Corvettes and never a flat or blowout. That's what my experience is based on.

Makes me wonder how many newer vette owners have given up on runflats forever after their experience with the Goodyears.

Have any of you folks that have tried the Michelin PS runflats also tried non-runflats? Opinions?

Pretty funny how goodyear still uses corvette in their commercials when so many of us hate them with a passion.

I had four flats in twelve months in my 2012 GS. Two more in my wife's 911. Three of the Vette's flats were in the sidewalls, but I had no problem driving to whatever Corvette dealer was nearby and all three tires were replaced under the GY warranty. The fourth was a slow leak that was repaired under warranty. I used two different dealers and both were unaware of the GY warranty.

My wife's car has a goop kit, which worked on one occasion but not when a large screw went through the tire. It went flat on the highway instantly about 40 miles from home and four hours later AAA showed up to tow it to a dealer 50 miles away.

I don't like the noise of the GY tires, but I have been impressed with the run flat feature.

lowest bidder.

.. I personally have never liked any Goodyear tire I have ever owned, and the tradeoff in performance to have a runflat is not worth it to me either.....However I have only owned goodyear runflats, so while maybe other manufacturers have better runflats, Ill just stick with a compressor/tire slime in my cubby while running my Michelin super sports.

Since I started that thread, probably I should provide an update.

We have the PS2 ZP runflats on our 2009, probably about 15k miles on them and they should go to 25k or more. I don't track the car but drive it hard enough on some twisties that my tire shoulders have that pebbled appearance. They are outstanding in rain when new, probably better than the A/S. Ultimate grip is simliar to Supercars when new, but the Michelins did not get hard/noisy/slippery like the Supercars do after a few thousand miles. Overall, an excellent tire.

I've had no chunking or other problems. The autocrossers/trackheads in our club have somewhat switched from Michelins to some non-runflats whose name I don't recall (price and a slight performance advantage) but the ones still using Michelins are not reporting problems now.

For those considering non-runflats, you should think about where/when/how/how far, you drive your car. We drive all over the U.S in all kinds of weather. I don't want to be waiting for AAA, or trying to plug/Slime a tire; at night, along a busy highway, anywhere with no shoulder, on a bridge/tunnel, in a bad neighborhood, in an area with no cellphone coverage, or 40 miles from nowhere.
Those who only drive near home in good conditions, have a different situation.

Your car, your money, your choice.

The previous owner of my 05 base coupe said he went from GY RF to A/S RF at 30K and noticed much better wet/dry traction but increased road noise. I bought the car at 35K and didn't like the look (Michelin A/S tires look like off-road mudders to me because the tread comes down too far into the sidewall). I sold the A/S's on craigslist and put on PS2 run flats. They look much better to me and the road noise was seriously diminished.

I think GY has given the RF business a bad rap many folks I know have went away from the GY and have went to a non-run flat or a different brand of RF tire.

I personally went away from the RF tire and went with a performance tire in the Continental DWS. I also had the car re-aligned which also helps the tire wear. Almost every Vette I've seen tends to wear out the front tires way before you start to see wear in the rears. I was told that Corvettes are set-up from the factory with a more aggressive alignment which is harder on tires.

For me I just keep a little tire compressor, plugs, and slime in the cubby.

They dont give run flats a bad name, but they definitely give GoodYear a bad name.

From now on I'm sticking with Michelin.

Not to stray from the op topic but this might apply to gm as well. Harley Davidsons have come from the factory for at least the last 23 years that I have owned them with Dunlop tires. The Dunlops handle well in both dry and wet conditions but a rear tire usually is junk in around 8000 miles. One year I was at the factory in York Pa for an open house and was talking to a Dunlop factory rep about how their tires are junk as far as wear is concerned and how I always switch to Avon's after they wear and get triple the mileage and much better handling characteristics. He told me in confidence that Dunlop was aware of all these issues and that they manufacture tires for Harley according to their specs and safety was Harley's main concern NOT tire wear. Could it be that GM does the same with GY?
