Default Options settings.

Aloha,
What gives? Per manual for manual transmission, " turn vehicle on with parking brake set. Press options button to enter menu".

When I do this, my screen reads " options unavailable."

Cool. Thanks man. I only got 1 FOB when I bought the car. Looks like I need to buy another FOB and do some reprogramming

Directions in this thread. If you have problems cclive (Chris) is very helpful in this area.

Only the FOBs programmed as 1 and 2 have access to the options. The FOB you have is probably programmed as FOB 3 or 4. This happens a lot if you bought from a used car dealer. They screw up the FOB stuff all the time. A lot of them have a desk drawer with a bunch of FOBs tossed in it and then just pick one.

Yeah, bought it used. Only 1 FOB. #1. This dealer rarely has vettes thought.
Nothing is working. I can't get the DIC to say anything after the 5 turns. Can't do the erase and reprogram. That's the one I want to do

The number on the fob case doesn't mean anything. Any fob can act as #1 if it's programed that way.

Yeah, I understand that. I can't get my DIC to read anything after the 5 turns of the key though. Glove box open, trunk open...if I put the FOB in my pocket, sit in the seat, push the bottom half of the start button, DIC says " no FOBS detected".
At this point, I can't add a FOB, or erase all FOBs to reprogram.

Just to be sure, are you following the instructions exactly?

C6 Fob Programming, long version to erase car memory and reprogram all Fobs. Any lost Fobs that are not reprogrammed with this procedure will no longer work on the car. Lost Fobs that are later found may be added to the car with the short programming procedure. This procedure requires three consecutive ten minute waiting periods, so plan on spending about a half hour to do this, during which the car may not be moved. Remember that the number printed on the Fob only indicates the way it was first programmed at the factory. All Fobs are identical. The order in which they are placed in the glovebox slot determines what number the Fob is.

1. Car off
2. Trunk open
3. Glove box open
4. Make sure NO Fobs are anywhere near the car. IMPORTANT.
5. Put key in trunk keyhole and turn key five times in less than 5 seconds.
6. DIC will now beep and light up and say “Off/Acc to learn” If you decide at this point NOT to do the programming now, push the TOP half of the Start button and the car will return to normal. To continue with programming:
7. Push bottom half of the Start button. DIC will say to wait 10 minutes and will start counting down the minutes. You may close the trunk and car door while waiting for the ten minute countdowns.
8. After the first 10 minute countdown, DIC will again say “Off/Acc to learn”. Push bottom half of Start button again. DIC will again start counting down the ten minutes.
9. After the second 10 minute countdown, DIC will again say “Off/Acc to learn”. Push bottom half of Start button again. DIC will again start counting down the ten minutes.
10. After this third ten minute period is over, DIC will say “Ready for Fob #1” Regardless of the number on the Fob, the FIRST Fob that is put in the glovebox slot will be recognized as Fob #1. Put the first Fob in the glovebox slot with the buttons facing to the right (passenger) side.
11. After 3 or four seconds the DIC will beep and say “Ready for Fob #2”. Put the second Fob in the slot. The car will take a maximum of four fobs. When you have no more Fobs to program, push the bottom half of the Start button to end the programming session.
12. Test all buttons on the fobs to make sure they work, then take all fobs away from the car and, one by one, try using each to start the car.

This is critical! Take the FOB as far away from the car as you reasonably can.

Then make sure your trunk lock is turning a complete 90 degrees. It may be dirty and not turning far enough to make the necessary contact.

I believe you need to erase and reprogram the fob you have so that it is #1 as you only have one. Read the directions where it says to first make sure no fobs are anywhere near the car, important and try again. Good luck, let us know how you make out.

The instructions posted above and a couple of other posters have hinted at your problem, I'll spell it out.

TAKE THE FOB OUT OF YOUR POCKET and try to follow the rest of the instructions.

The only time I had the FOB in my pocket was when I moved the car after the failed attempts.

I had the FOB about 50 ft away from the car when doing the procedure

I never make it to step 6, DIC stays blank. I'll try to clean the key switch and cycle it to make sure its making the contact. Feels OK though.

Ok, maybe the cable is stretched or out of place in the hatch. Does the hatch open with the key, try that. Close the trunk and see if it opens with the key not the button. If not remove the interior trim and manually work the latch five times. Problem is the key doesnt move the latch enough to trip the switch at the latch.

OK, I'll try that tomorrow. The key does open the hatch. The little black button next to the keyhole doesn't though. Car only has 40,000 miles. But I queasy anything can happen.
Thanks

Mine didn't either, another day to solve that one. Sometimes a cleaning will fix it I had to replace mine, easy job. Good luck tomorrow.

Try putting the car in reverse. Mine would not do anything either until I put it in reverse.

Not what you said in post #4.

Which is correct? The instructions state "make sure no fobs are anywhere near the car."

You stated " Nothing.kept my #1 and only FOB in my pocket ----"
