I know it's been written here many times but of course when you need it you can't find it. I have my center console and arm rest console removed in anticipation for a couple of xmas gifts coming next week. While they are off i would like to put some heat shield over the tunnel on the inside. Whats the best/cheapest product to use that can be bought asap?? Every search i do gets me to tunnel plate threads and im looking for interior, not exterior.... Thanks guys
One member posted where he put in some of the heat shield material you can get in the plumbing dept at the hardware store.
Do a search for kevlar hand pads on the internet. They are used in welding applications. You might be able to make one work for you. Magid Glove has them and I'm sure others do as well. Less than $10.
When I installed my MGW shifter, I purchased Dynamat heat/sound insulation sheets and installed them under the shifter console and center consul which has reduced the heat considerably. I bought two 10" x 10" sheets that did the entire job for $10.00. You might find some at an auto parts store. During the install video of the MGW shifter there are step by step instructions on how to apply the Dynamat. Very easy, self stick product and the product did not interfere with the re-installation of the console.

If you do a google search for engine compartment heat shield you will get all sorts of ideas.
If you are a do it yourself make your own patterns using a felt or some material easy to lay down and cut in the car. you can buy this in different sizes, then aluminum 2" tape to seal the seams. I would say sounds like a great winter project.
thanks guys!! I should be getting the thermo-tech tomorrow and i hope it helps. if not i didnt realize dynomat was so cheap, i would hae bought that instead, but it's only a small area im doing so im sure the thermo will do just fine... Thanks guys
I've looked and searched but can't find any specific directions on removing the center console....any help? I know it's easy because I've seen it done, but I'd feel more comfortable prying off the brake shroud, for example, if I was sure it just clicks off.
Thanks for any thread anyone knows about.

are you talking abut the armrest part, or the radio bezel?

I did a step-by-step posted here, but it isn't easy <CLICK HERE> ...
i know you want interior but...
the temps inside my wifes 05 greatly went down when we used the EE tunnel plate (SUPER easy to install), 160 stat, headers, and the console box and cup holder thermal insulation
hardly ever feel any heat inside compared to what it was before the upgrades
i gather sticking insulation/matting in from DEI would help as well if you aren't interested in changing the plate
Yes, I meant the radio bezel. I want to put some sound deadening material just locally around the shifter/gearbox area because of the torque tube noises. I had a friend switch from the stock shifter to the MGW and back to stock, so know it's fairly straightforward...but this write-up is exactly what I was looking for. Don't want to mess anything up. I must've done this >10 times on my C5, but that's a bit easier.
Thanks!

This is also an excellent write-up and photo record...but it's way beyond what I want to do esp. the dash gages and seat removal. Nice work though!
Thanks.
