Proceed with caution my friend. No slak w/ a halogen. It is what it is.
You have been warned (Blk gar qn C5) u will need multiple products, Unacceptable hours, lots of very enjoyable hard work, repeated trips to the fridge w/ hopes u have a script in there too.......
(to calm ya down when you gotta start over
With paitence and hard (?) work you can do it too. I got faith in u.

First I've heard of the Menzerna SIP, but I see its in house polish used by Mercedez Benz and highly rated on Autogeek. Both of which mean its definitely something I'd use. Already bookmarked it!

I havent bought the 105/205 combo yet.. so I'll give the SIP a try first. I've heard from others about the dusting/residue problems with the 105.. and being an amatuer myself it sounds like the SIP is an easier product to work with.

Z is looking good! Keep up the good work & great tips!

Thanks! I'm not sure who makes them. They were on the car when I bought it.

I have some EX-P that I may use. Yup, that's me. I knew your username sounded familiar!!

Yes, the hologens bring everything out! It's really not that bad, and I have seen worse.

Thanks! Yes, that is what I used, followed by the PO106. Mine is labeled PO85RD 3.02, but is now called PO83. Menzerna labeling is so confusing, but I really like the way they work with the Porter Cable.

I have tried them all...and Menzerna SIP is by far the best for vettes and their rock hard ceramic clear coat. Followed by PO85 and you got a shine you can walk through.

I wouldn't use that SIP a lot though....once you get that paint nice, take care of it with proper washing techniques and good sealant/wax. SIP will eat that clear if used too often.

Nice job guys. Couple questions. I just picked up a low mile 06 Lemans blue with white stripes. Paints in good shape. Would like to max out and protect it. So far I just used mquires next on it. Looks good. But what the way to go? Wax then sealant? Carnuba is a nono in hawaii as it yellows real bad. I used zaino bros on my black c5 with good sucess. Appriciate any advise

I have never used the 105 but I did my torch red C5 with the 205 LC orange pad porter cable 7636. Swirl marks were not as bad as yours but the 205 did a fabulous job of removing them. I followed up with NXT and it looked perfect. No dusting with the 205 at all. Your's is looking great.

Got some more polishing done, and it came out pretty nice. My OCD and ADD kicked in, and I have been attacking all the black trim, including the "mud flap" plastic pieces in the wheel wells as well as the weatherstripping. Ended up with some nice results, and I will get some before/after pics up tomorrow.

I have some WOLFGANG 3.0 Sealant if you want some. It only takes about 10 minutes to seal it, then wait about 45 minutes and remove and buff, then leave it in the garage for 12 hours to cure.

Thanks! I used some EX-P today, but may check out that Wolfgang if you don't mind. I have a bunch of products to trade if you want, and I always like trying new stuff.

Nope, I'll drive over and we'll apply it together. I don't mind giving you some to make that black stay scratch free.

Ok, if you insist!! Will try to finish up the polishing tomorrow. The hood/fenders are already sealed.

I find the opposite to be true.

I LOVE M105 BUT HATE THE DUSTING AND SLING! Also hate how much of a PITA it is to remove!

I have quite a few Menzerna polishes and I think they are much easier to remove than M105.

BTW looking great and cant wait to see some finished pictures!

I guess there are many factors involved, but for some reason at this time I feel that Menzerna products are just "easy". I don't want to do another full polish job anytime soon on this car, so my combo of buffer, pad, and product has worked out pretty well IMO. Menzerna will be the polish I use going forward, but I definitely want to give 3D HD Polish a try in the future. I have heard good things about it.

I am sure that many feel that M105 does a great job, but for me I just did not see it.

Agreed!

Ah yes, sling! And I thought it was just me.

After using the M105, I had to "detail" my garage, shoes, AND pants as more made it on my clothes than the car and my buffer pad

Will try to get some pics up soon. Just finished wet-sanding the plastic mud-flaps right behind the front wheels.
