It would not be convenient for me to hook up my tender on the drivers side without running an extension cord and knowing me if I hooked it up from the passenger side I would be one of those guys who drove away with it. Hence the open hood deal.
HAHA...I actually almost did this one day. I got it, turn the car on and was getting ready to pull out of the garage. Then I noticed my hood was not completely closed. Almost had a bad day there.
The manual for my 2008 states about 21 days is it. After that you should hook up a battery tender. I keep mine on the tender all the time when I am not driving it. Simple thing to do and keeps the battery fully charged without any worries.
You are damaging the battery any time it discharges at all. Even a daily driver battery will not last as long as a battery left on a tender 24/7. Yes, a new battery will not completely discharge in less than 3 weeks but you are severely damaging the battery if you repeatedly let it almost completely discharge and then bring it back from the verge of death. You will get a 3 year life (very typical here) vs. the 7+ year life you could get if you kept the battery charged all the time.
You're killing your battery if you let it sit for weeks at a time.
Someone mentioned that the C6 has a door sill slit that you can use to fish the lighter cable through. Where and on which door exactly is it located???
Both doors have a slit.
Either outlet works fine. I use the center console outlet because that's where I store the adapter.
And I leave the lid open as a reminder to disconnect it before driving away.
Just make sure you don't crimp the cord -- it should move easily when the door is closed.
