What do you mean the power outlet in the arm console is not switched to turn off after the car is shut down?

That's a good way to non-remember and slow gadget drain the battery.

However, if you do it one time, you'll probably remember it from then on.

True! I did. On my C5, never made that mistake again!

I consider it a huge plus because I can charge my phone while eating, shopping, working etc.

I don't like the cars that shut it off.

I like it also because I plug my battery maintainer in there and it wouldn't work if the plug were not live.

I plug my tender in there as well and I can leave my IPOD plugged in and charging with it hiding in the console, if I want.

...so the accessory power outlet (cigarette lighter sized thingy) in the center armrest compartment doesn't power off when the car is shut down? Good to know.

Both the cig lighter, and the console plug; are live at all times in the C6.

Our Toyotas turn them both off when shut down.

Given my choice, I'd prefer one to be always live and one to be switched, with appropriate labels. But I must have missed the phone call from GM when they tried to ask me...

Wire in a relay and make it a switched outlet if you want.

GM is amazing....We have four GM vehicles....the only one that shuts off is the Cad.....not the Avalanche, nor the Z, or the Enclave.....but love all of the cars....

I don't know of a single car with power points that uses switched power.

My Ridgeline is switched. That's a mod I've been meaning to do to the Corvette but haven't gotten around to in 18 months. Not that high a priority obviously. I like the one switched/one hot idea.

Ones we own that are switched:
1998 Toyota Camry V6 XLE
2005 Toyota Camry V6 XLE
2011 Toyota Camry V6 XLE

Yes, we like Camrys.

I think our mid-80's Toyota Corolla also had switched outlets, but it's long gone.
