Default DRL at night?

I drive a 08 Z06.

How can I put on the DRL lights at night while the low beam lights are running?

Like the car in this video.

i'm under the impression they are on all the time, even with lows...

I am in the middle of installing switchbacks and i just started it about a half hour ago and the lows and DRL was on, wasn't driving it though just started it to see if lights came on...

PS i think they switch off when the highs come on, no?

Thanks for the answer

My car was shipped from the U.S. to Switzerland. Maybe, the company, which has carried out the conversion pulled a fuse or something.

The DLRs are only burning when its day and the light-switch is on auto. If its night the DLRs stop and the low beams come on.

The OEM 'DRL' bulb has two filaments.

The brighter filament is used for the DRL's and the turn signals.

The dimmer filament is used for the running and parking lights.

In the daytime with the lighting switch set to 'Auto', the brighter filament is lit and will flash on and off if the turn signals are used. If you have an A6, the DRL's only come on when the car's in gear.

If you leave the lighting switch in 'Auto', once it gets dark the low beams will turn on and the DRL's will change to the dimmer, running light condition. In the dark the turn signals will still light the brighter filament when they are used.

Any time, day or night, that you turn on the low beams or fog lights, the DRL's will go off and the running lights will turn on.

High beams have no affect on the DRL's, or the turn signals or the running/parking lights. However, using the high beams will switch off the fog lights if they are turned on.

Since the DRL's can only be turned on with the lighting switch set to 'Auto', there is no way to turn them on in the dark because the car will always automatically switch to the low beams/etc.

And, there are no fuses for the DRL/turn signals, they are controlled/regulated directly by the BCM (computer).

Hope this helps.

On our 2006 A6 coupe and now 2009 A6 coupe, the DRL's come on when the engine is started and then the tranny is put in D or S. Doesn't matter if the headlights are on or not, engine + gear = DRL's.

During the day, you can turn off the DRL's after starting the engine, by rotating the headlight switch fully "rearward, toward yourself" and then releasing to Auto. Doing the same motion a second time will turn on the DRL's again (if in gear), etc.

DRL's are on when the low beams are on. I've driven many a mile with a C6 behind me at night, and the DRLs are on(easy to see the amber light next to the white light of the low beams).
I might add that if the car is a manual, the DRL's are turned off if the parking brake is set.

Both my C6s (05 Vert- 07 Z06) you could turn the stalk **** (headlight switch) as you were pushing the go button. That way if you do it right the lights do not even blink. Both of my C6s were Manuals.

The OEM amber light in the headlight cluster is on with your low beams but it is the dimmer of the two filaments and it's part of the running/parking light circuit.

The brighter filament for the DRL/turn signals is not on.

Go out and start your car and turn on the headlights and watch what happens to the amber light when you use the turn signals.

I agree. The amber lights are lit all the time, with or without the head lights being on (unless the auto is in park or the manual has the parking brake set or the DRL's are turned off using the switch on the wiper stalk). You are correct that the DRL's have dual filament bulb. That's why the load resistor gets so dang hot when using LED's in the DRL's.
