Default Hpipe Xpipe difference

If a stock Hpipe was cut at the H part between the two pipes and caps welded over both sides would it then be an x pipe???

^That is the geometry and then some. LG x-pipe with the LG LT headers. I did the same thing with my 2005 goat but with Kook's headers and x-pipe into a JBA exhaust.

One picture is worth a thousand words. So educate me, I assume the standard exhaust systems on the LS3, even the NPP exhaust option, comes with an "H"-pipe cross-over, and you have to go aftermarket to get an "X"-pipe, is this right? How much to change over, and what might it buy you, one or two horsepower? Any change to the exhaust sound on a more open system like the NPP with the valves held open 1/4 inch all the time?

Thank you Bud for the excellent photos. I'm happy that my '09 LS3 Coupe exhaust apparently already has this feature. Unfortunately I've never been able to get under my Vette to view her, but from every photo I've seen, the C6 underside is nearly attractive as the topside, especially to a car nut/engineer like me.

I had a '09 LS3 w/NPP option. It did NOT have x-pipe. Even early production 2010 Z06 does NOT have factory installed x-pipe. That did not come until very late 2010 MY production on Z06 (oil cooler change as well).

If your planning to buy a take-off from someone, remember that 2012+ will NOT work on 2005-2011's....

No, it would be a dual exhaust with no crossover.

as you look at pic above..thats my 09 csc with x pipe from factory..the x pipe in foreground is my stock mid pipe..the x pipe in background was the one modified to fit the Z06 manifolds/cat..went from 3" to 2 1/2"
i just thought all 09's came with it, but i guess not...another unique feature for the c6 csc's
