Guy, I took a curve a little bit too hard and I lost control of the car just for a second, when everything when back to normal I noticed that the abs and traction control light was on and stayed on until I turned off the engine then it disappeared. This is not the first time this happened.... the light on the dashboard comes on only if the cars looses control and it goes away next time I turn the car on. is this normal?

If I hit a bump in the road the SES display comes on.
Once in a while I get SES recalibrating on display.
The DIC should say "active handling enabled" for three seconds or so than return to normal. If you move your drivers seat fore and aft often, it could be the connector under the seat. If you telescope the wheel often, it could be the connector under there.

Hello,
2 years ago I was doing 75 mph and a deer ran out onto the road and I swerved hard around him (so hard I briefly lost power steering) The traction and ABS lights both stayed on until I restarted the car an hour later.
6 thousand miles later and lots of hard driving and it has not done it again.

After the event was over but before you turned the car off did you see any messages on the DIC? If the lights were indicating an issue with the ABS and Traction control you should see Service xxx messages on the DIC. ABS failure indications often disappear after the engine is shut off because the ABS does a reset with each engine start. Then after the car starts moving and the ABS does its self test and the Active Handling subsystem calibrates any failures that still exist will trigger the lights and messages again. For failures that don't exhibit themselves except when the system is asked to perform as intended there could be an issue with a loose wheel bearing which stays within tolerance until pushed to the edge (this would be an unexpected variation in wheel speed signal level or frequency, or some other electrical part is close to being out of tolerance and increased signal levels then push the signals it is seeing out of the tolerance band.
Best thing to do is to get the car checked for ABS codes by using a code scanner that can read ABS codes. Some auto parts stores use them and some don't. The Autozone near me just uses an OBDII scanner while the Advance Auto Store uses a scanner that can read OBDII and ABS codes. Hopefully, you should have some sort of DTC in the EBCM history file.
